About this project
For $2,500, you will be an ASSOCIATE PRODUCER (on IMDb + the film's end credits at upcoming festivals + on the DVD) and have a 30-minute Skype video conversation about anything and everything with Kevin Gant and Jay Duplass (+ ALL OF THE ABOVE)
Who Is Kevin Gant?
In Austin, TX in the early '90s, Kevin was my hero. He was the purest, most inspired artist I had ever seen. His fusion of all-American folk-poetry with a wild flamenco guitar style was completely original, and I went to every show of his I could.
But in 1995, Kevin disappeared completely from the music scene, and I had no idea why.
Two years ago I finally tracked him down, and we began a friendship. I learned about the painful events back in ’95 that shattered his lifelong dream of making and sharing music. I learned he had barely touched his guitar ever since, and forgotten how to play almost all of his songs.
But then, thanks to a magical twist of fate I could never have imagined, Kevin and I found ourselves traveling halfway around the globe and back. And along the way, I watched as Kevin’s dream reignited right before my eyes.
KEVIN, my documentary debut, is that story.
Help Launch Kevin's Comeback Tour!
I am incredibly proud to announce that Kevin has just begun his first world-wide tour. He is building it by following his own life’s story from one film festival to the next. After our World Premiere in March at the 2011 SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX, Kevin has already performed at the Arizona International and Sarasota Film Festivals, with many more to come.
So in addition to helping our production with “finishing funds” for a proper color correct and sound design, your Kickstarter donation will also, literally, be fueling Kevin’s comeback tour.
Every festival he can travel to and book live gigs around will be one more city he can revisit on future tours in 2012 and beyond. Your generosity will truly help Kevin to realize a dream more than 20 years in the making! And I can’t thank you enough for that.
