Violet Sweet Shoppe will be opening in Seattle in May 2013. We have an amazing little space that is convenient by bus, car, and especially by bike (the Burke-Gilman trail is right behind our shop!) We will serve cakes, tarts, cookies, candies, and tons of other treats that you can't find anywhere else in Seattle. The money we collect from this kickstarter will help us buy a few small pieces of equipment we need to produce our full menu. A Vitamix bender, a small freezer, and a water boiler are on our shopping list. We are sooo excited to open our doors and we want everything to be 100% perfect. Our space is small but quaint and seats 10-12 people indoors, and about 6 people outdoors. We'll have coffee, tea, and a rotating selection of smoothies. We will be open every single day so you wont have to plan your schedule around ours. Thanks so much for checking us out and we can hardly wait to see you in the shop!
Risks and challenges
There are several risks of opening our bakery on a limited budget. We have spent a lot of money on our permits, licenses, and our major equipment. We had no idea how much all of the little stuff would add up to several thousand dollars (thanks a lot, Paint!). The products that we did spend money on were a bit more expensive because they are Eco-friendly and non-toxic (the carpet glue remover, for example). We have done most of the building, painting, sawing, and other work on our own and we are re-using much of the wood and fixtures that already existed in the space. We have searched high and low for the best deals on reliable equipment. We decided to do a kickstarter so we can get everything we need to launch our full menu the day we open. If we don't raise these funds, we will have to slowly add items to the menu as we make equipment purchases over time. We will NEVER give up! We have come this far, our bakery will be amazing no matter what obstacles we have to overcome!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
