It takes a lot to put on a concert. Our project budget is $2,500, but thanks to generous donations and support from the composers, performers, the local Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity, and the University of Iowa, we have reduced our need to $1,800 for this campaign:
$900 – Commissioning fees and composer travel
$800 – Musician compensation
$100 – Music scores, shipping, and handling
We have already received the following in kind donations and support:
$250 – Discounts from composers, travel and lodging expenses covered by in kind donations
$200 – Event set-up, staffing, and reception provided by SAI music fraternity
$100 – (Toy) Instrument rental fee waived
$75 – Event recording fee waived
$75 – Venue provided by the University of Iowa
Any extra funding we receive will be used to cover additional expenses, such as printing, shipping, and then will be channeled into the composer and musician compensation, which are currently listed at a reduced rate.
Risks and challenges
We have taken many precautions to limit the risks involved in putting on a live concert. Our venue is reserved and all musicians are prepared to perform, barring any emergency situations. Weather can cause trouble for traveling musicians and composers, so in the event of a mishap, the concert may be rescheduled.
The scores are all finished, except for a few finishing touches on the brand new works, and the rehearsals have all been scheduled. In fact, the musicians may already be practicing their parts. All we need now is YOUR help!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
