Climate Change Monitoring
As we are getting ready for our Big Sur and Channel Islands Expeditions we are excited to announce that we will begin monitoring the effects of climate change on the ocean this year. In addition to the ecological surveys that we will be doing, we will bring along instruments to measure the ocean temperature, the oxygen levels in the sea water and the acidity of the water. All of these are changing in response to a changing climate and this is affecting the marine life. We will combine this ocean monitoring with our long-term ecological data to begin to understand these effects. Please support us in moving this important work forward by donating and sharing this campaign! We are near our fundraising goal but can’t get there without your help!
