Smoke and Glass is a steampunk urban fantasy setting for Fate Core written by Abigail Corfman and presented by Phoenix Outlaw Productions. This unique setting welcomes players to the city of Kroy, where the technology of a steampunk-Dickensian inspired world meets storybook fantasy and magic. Players take on the roles of Kroy's diverse citizenry as they fight to claim their place on the mean streets of this dangerous city.
The game features a new class system, custom stunts, and unique magic rules created to enhance and expand on the already powerful Fate Core system. Smoke and Glass is Phoenix Outlaw's debut release to the game world that welcomes players to discover a new world brimming with mythology, power and social intrigue.
The city of Kroy is so dangerous, even the sky wears a mask. Cloaked in smog and powered by mysterious blacksalt, the metropolis is built on the bones of an ancient kingdom. Once, a line of enchanted royals ruled. Now, the throne is a stepping stone for tycoons, kingpins, and criminals while the Cult of the Dark Mother guides history forward at knifepoint. Industry has the city in its iron grip, with new innovations fueled by the old magic of a bygone era. The new urban empire of Kroy rises on the back of mass production, a paradise for the haves that strangles the have-nots. On every street, at every corner, civilization sheds new blood as lawmen and thugs clash in an unending brawl for control of the city's wonders.
Yet even as this new age dawns, the secrets of the ancient world cannot be ignored, and neither can the mysteries that lie just outside the city gates.
Smoke and Glass is a new setting powered by the Fate Core system from Evil Hat Productions. S&G's interpretation of Fate Core is sleek and intuitive, emphasizing an open and permissive dialogue among the players. The game complements and extends Fate Core's familiar mechanics, giving players the tools to plot and foil intricate stories of subtlety and intrigue. At the same time, the game's new character classes give every player an easy entry point into whatever kind of story they most enjoy.
Smoke and Glass is a rich setting, with details on everything from city politics to curse words. For the player who delights in exploring a fantasy setting, there's something to discover around every corner. For the player who enjoys intrigue, the city is packed with a gallery of interesting and nefarious possible friends and enemies. What You'll Receive: The Book
The book is the creation of Abigail Corfman, who both created the world of Kroy and designed the new mechanics for Fate Core. Edited by John Adamus and with layout by Tiara Lynn Agresta, the book will feature beautiful art by Jonathan Wyke, Nicole Cardiff and more!
As for the specs of the book itself, both the softcover and hardcover versions of Smoke and Glass will be 6 x 9. The book will be approximately 200 pages long and done in black and white, with a full color cover for both versions.

Kroy may be in the middle of the grasslands but off to the west is a coastline rife with beautiful beaches, rocky waterways, and gnomes. Gnomes as far as the eye can see. At $8,000 follow Josh Harrison as he expands the world of Meridia further and introduces the children of the coasts and the world of gnomes.

Risks and challenges
The first challenge would be that this book is Phoenix Outlaw's first product brought to Kickstarter and our first product as a gaming company. Though we have individually worked elsewhere within the gaming world, we are coming together for the first time to create this product. That said, we have spent over a year preparing for this project, learning from various other Kickstarter campaigns and resources in preparation for this project.
The most important challenge of the project would be production of the actual book itself, namely the material of Smoke and Glass. The best part about that problem is: the book is already written! The book text has been completed and the editing has been finished, and some of the art has already been delivered. What this Kickstarter would allow for is the rest of the art, as well as layout and the production of the books themselves. This ought to allow for a faster turnaround time for the project to get into the hands of backers.
Finally, should setbacks arise after the Kickstarter funds, we have a dedicated team here that will work to update and keep backers informed of the progress.
