About this project

WALKING WITH THE DEAD

A bloody and comedic riff of modern-era zombie pop culture, Walking With The Dead stabs at any and every genre convention--WHY are zombies' skulls so conveniently soft?!--and parodies the best and worst zombie movies and TV shows.

THE STORY

A month into the zombie apocalypse, a group of survivors, including four who "for safety reasons" go by the names of their favorite cities--Green Bay, Chicago, Brooklyn, and Harlem--a Sheriff fresh off a nice, relaxing, six-week coma, his small-business-owner 10 year old son, and a voiceover-prone zombie, Romeo, who has convinced the group that he's not dead, just a little slow, are forced from the safety of their mall-camp in hopes of finding a rumored safe-haven.

Not long after, their dreams are realized. They are welcomed to Safe Haven Ranch by the elderly owners, Abraham and Sarah, a couple who seem too nice to NOT be crazy cult killers. The survivors tread lightly, wary of their "good intentions" and unwillingness to discuss their daughter Isaac's looming absence...are they hiding a zombie child, unwilling to face reality? Wanting their uninvited guests to be her next meal? Now occupying the front yard of possible crazies, with a town-ful of undead threatening to breach the farm at any second, this eclectic group must band together like never before if they plan on even glimpsing the end of the end of the world!

WHO ARE WE, REALLY?

We makers of Walking With The Dead are fresh off a rather successful first dip into the satire game. Our film Supernatural Activity (trailer below), a spoof of the literally vomit-inducing "found footage" genre, was released on DVD and VOD worldwide, had limited theatrical release overseas, and here in the USofA is available on DVD, VOD, and streaming on Netflix. In case you don't believe us, here are the trailer and some sexy covers from various countries laughing at our stupidity:

THE TEAM

This movie WILL be made and we want YOU to be a part of it! We have a talented team of hard-working filmmakers ready to create a hilarious brain bath flick.

Tim Ogletree: Writer/Producer/Green Bay

Tim Ogletree was born in San Antonio, TX and began his career on stage in church productions, as well as in front of the camera in student short films. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he got his degree in Radio-TV-Film. It was there that he met and began collaborating with Dylan Thomas Ellis on short films, as well as signing with Derek Lee Nixon’s talent agency as an actor.

In 2008, Tim and Dylan both participated in the University of Texas Los Angeles program, where Tim co-produced and co-starred in their short film What Would Buffy Do?, which got the attention of Hollywood-based producers in 2009. Tim and Dylan then wrote their first feature screenplay, Salem State. While pursuing his screenwriting career in LA, Tim worked on the production side of multiple big-budget feature films, including Sundance Film Festival favorite Hesher and the slasher suspense/thriller Sorority Row.

In 2011, Tim resumed his acting career with a supporting role in Derek Lee Nixon’s found footage spoof movie, Supernatural Activity, now on DVD, VOD, and Netflix worldwide.

Derek Lee Nixon: Producer

Derek Lee Nixon is a multi award winning producer and partner at Aristar Entertainment Group, A Feature Film Production and Sales Company.

A San Antonio native, Nixon began in front of the camera, starting at the young age of 8 in San Antonio, TX.He has starred in films such as Mary-Kate and Ashley’s When In Rome, Epic Picture’s teen comedy The Jerk Theory, WB’s short lived television series “Do-Over” and stars in the newest Installment of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Franchise BONEBOYS.

In 2006, Nixon produced and starred in Hallettsville with Academy Award Nominee and professional crazy person Gary Busey. Shortly after, he created Aristar Entertainment and made a name for himself as an independent producer. He produced The Lights (2007) starring Joe Estevez, Outrage (2009) starring Michael Madsen, Natasha Lyonne and Michael Berryman, and A Schizophrenic Love Story (2010) starring Academy Award nominee Bruce Davison, which has won 4 Best Narrative Feature awards at Festivals around North America. He produced and directed Supernatural Activity (2011) distributed worldwide on DVD, VOD, and Netflix. Most recently he produced 2012 Academy Award eligible director Ya’Ke Smith’s critically acclaimed, multi-award winning dramatic feature film WOLF which held its World Premiere at SXSW 2012 alongside 21 Jump Street and Cabin in the Woods.

While enrolled, she was accepted into the UTLA program in Los Angeles where she took a dual internship for Mosaic Media Group (Will Ferrell, Jim Carrey, Judd Apatow) and Atlas Entertainment (Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Saga). It was also during the program that she met and began collaborating with Tim Ogletree and Dylan Thomas Ellis, serving as Script Supervisor on their short film What Would Buffy Do?. Upon graduation she interned for Legacy Filmworks on the feature film Beatdown (Danny Trejo, Rudy Youngblood, Eric Balfour).

Francis then teamed up with Twitchy Dolphin Flix, a micro-budget independent company based out of Austin, TX. During this time, she administered a variety of departments as Producer for four of their feature films. In the following few years, her job descriptions have ranged from Producer, Director, First AD, Production Manager, Story Editor, and Script Supervisor for feature films, short films, music videos, PSA commercials and television.

Her recent major accomplishment was when a short film she produced, Recess, was accepted into the 2012 Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival. Recess was later sold to Shorts International where they nominated it for the 85th Annual Academy Awards.

Risks and challenges

Staying Under Budget: Zombie productions require more fake blood, brains, and special effects than an Ozzy Osborne concert, which can be difficult to afford in a low-budget production. However, producer Derek Nixon has never gone over budget on a film he's produced and has the means and know-how to get creative when it comes to getting the best bang for the film's buck. Your money will be wisely and frugally used to blow this movie's brains out--in a good way, of course.

Securing Distribution: We have a foreign sales agent already locked onto the project. Archstone distribution ("Rum Diaries" with Johnny Depp, Robert Rodriguez's "Machete" and "Supernatural Activity")

Domestic distributors will be key to the success domestically. Again, with the history of the team, genre and time frame of the release. The production team is very confident in locking a solid domestic distributor for a very wide release.
