I am working with large yoga balls as an extension of one's self. Dancers are in full bodied unitards (including the face)
The piece is largely based on the idea of shapes, specifically circles and how many ways the body can move in this circular/ spherical motion. The balls are not only used as a movement research tool, but more importantly as an extension of the dancer (one's self). I also want to possibly work with the idea of continuing motion, as well as rebound and other concepts that go along with circles and balls.
I want the dancers to be in full unitards (including the face.) I feel like this creates some sexual ambiguity and allows for the dancers to almost forget that they are human, but rather elements of the dance and, hopefully, as a result truly connected with their ball. Probably most importantly, the goal is that the piece is fun, light hearted, and even silly at times.
