About this project
We've reached our main goal of $7,500 and the project WILL BE FUNDED! We now have a stretch goal of $10,000 which will allow us to print 1,000 copies (DOUBLE of the original goal) and put additional copies into the hands of the contributors.
Every 13 seconds someone in the United States will suffer a traumatic brain injury -- that's over 2.5 million people annually, in the US alone. 52,000 people will die as a result of their brain injury --- which makes it the 3rd highest cause of death in the US behind cancer and heart disease.
"Surviving Brain Injury: Stories of Strength and Inspiration" is a collection of stories that were contributed by over 80 brain injury survivors from across the world - most of whom may not have the opportunity to share their story otherwise.
This book brings together more than 100 brain injury survivors between contributors, cover models, and execution of production and marketing. All brought together by an invisible injury that affects SO many, yet isn't understood by the majority.
This book is necessary in the marketplace as a resource for other survivors and caregivers, so they can realize they are not alone in this journey -- that there are others out there just like them who have made remarkable strides in their recovery.
These stories offer strength and inspiration to fellow survivors, and help others understand the journey they go through (and are often brushed aside because of.) By offering understanding, we can create awareness and compassion!!!
By backing this project, you will help make this amazing book become a reality, and place it into the hands of those who most need it.
All funds raised will go towards production costs, including:
- printing 500 copies
- shipping costs
- cover design
- ebook publishing
- additionally, all contributors will also receive one copy of the book
My original book "Life With a Traumatic Brain Injury: Finding the Road Back to Normal" was successfully funded on Kickstarter last year, and received a silver medal in the Midwest Book Awards - which is an amazing honor. It has sold over 750 copies in its first 6 months, and I receive messages daily from readers telling me how much it has helped them in their recovery.
Browse through the reward levels -- I tried to make them fun and exciting. I am offering fun things like coffee dates and book parties, as well as practical items such as Coaching packages and Ghost Writing. Additionally, I have the opportunity for those who are interested to be sponsors and help get the book printed, as well as give books to brain injury survivors who may not otherwise be able to afford one.
Risks and challenges
Once the project IS fully funded, we will begin editing and formatting, and intend to send it the printer at the end of October, therefore launching it into your hands mid November.
However, if we meet any snags along the way we have allowed ourselves wiggle room and intend to have the book released before the end of the year.
If the project isn't fully funded, we won't be able to move forward with production, so please consider backing!!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
