Hello Numinous Peeps:
You may have noticed that I love quotes... Certain milestone moments in my life have been marked by, and will always be remembered with a quotation. They've got me through the good times and the bloody awful moments. They've spurred me on and made me a better person.
I also believe quotations appear when you need them most.
I wanted to share with everyone a quote that revealed itself to me a couple of days ago. I'd like to dedicate this to everyone else who is thinking about putting their neck on the line and trying something new. Perhaps you're about to launch into something like a Kickstarter campaign yourself?
Well, I hope these incredible words provide you with the same comfort and determination that they have me.
“Before the beginning of great brilliance, there must be chaos. Before a brilliant person begins something great, they must look foolish in the crowd.”
Another source of inspiration throughout my life has been music... In fact, when I was a little kid all I wanted to be when I grew up was a classical composer. Uh-huh, I know that's kinda weird wanting to be Mozart when everyone else had aspirations towards putting out fires or being a sheriff in the Wild West.
And ultimately, my dream never came true... I had to settle for words, rather than notes. I wonder if Walter wanted to be a writer when he was a kid?
WALTER WERZOWA: COMPOSER
Walter's not only an incredibly talented human being, he's also a prince. He's helped me out of tight spots since I've known him, and is a truly genuine bloke despite his great success in Hollywood and beyond. I'm so very proud to have him work on the music and sound design for THE NUMINOUS PLACE, and you'll understand why when you hear one of his wonderful tracks called "Agnus" which is included at the end of the Q & A.
1. Tell us a little about yourself, and what your role is on The Numinous Place.
I am a dreamer. My life's dream is "Music" . Music stimulates me emotionally and intellectually. TNP nurtures this passion. Music helped to inspire Mark to write this fantastic story, and it is part of the numinous journey. I am humbled to compose for the numinous experience.
2. What are you doing in that photo? (see below)
In that attached photo I am looking at a light, it appears to be warm and magical - it looks like a wax-candle - but in reality it is a cheap battery powered plastic light-
3. What attracted you to The Numinous Place?
Mark introduced me to TNP 1.5 years ago- This project combines art, science and technology in a way no other project does.
4. TNP is about a spiritual quest, tell us about yours
I was raised in conservative Vienna. My journeys exposed me to many different belief systems. Is there "ONE" answer? Instead of looking for an answer, we should become the answer.
Probably "Because it is" sums it up best.
5. What's the most amazing thing that ever happened to you?
Right now, - The most amazing thing is that my next breath of air is making my life possible.
6. TNP is about lucid, or numinous dreaming, tell us about your dream life.
My dream life is my sanctuary, I know if I would not dream I could not be creative.
7. You're one of the few people who've read the manuscript, please tell us your favorite part.
So many favorite parts - probably when Henry takes on the "persona" of Beelzebub and is experiencing another world, for the first time he is consciously in a new world ...
8. Is there a character in TNP you particularly relate to?
I wish I was Henry and could take an elevator into the untapped realm.
9. What are some of your favorite books, music and people who inspire you?
Recently: On Intelligence, - It compares pattern processing in our brains to how music works… and defies the myth that our brains and computers are comparable…
In music there is one constant - The Emperor … Johann Sebastian Bach - and then there is Radiohead and the wind (noise) blowing through a tree...
10. What's your greatest achievement so far in life?
I am restless, - being quoted "composer of the most recognizable and most performed melody in broadcast" [Intel mnemonic] and my music credit in "MInority Report" seem to be the greatest creative achievements - I am getting a hunch that scoring TNP will outshine my prior achievements
11. And finally, what's the quote that really inspires you and your life?
"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler" Albert Einstein
