I don't know where else to post this, since the Support section of equiso.com is a dead link.

I didn't see the update in all the Kickstarter update spam I get. Is it too late for a backer to trade their Equiso in?

    2. Creator Div3r5ity on April 2, 2014

i sent an email to hello@equiso.com and support@equiso.com previously

    3. Creator Diane on March 26, 2014

@equiso unfortunately there is nothing you can do to help. after my standard and two retail version upgrades, I donated the stick to the new York city dept of sanitation.

    4. Creator Equiso Smart TV on March 26, 2014

@Frank - A new campaign has been created because Kickstarter does not allow you to change names once it has gone live. Unfortunately, our last campaign was created under the name 'Equiso Smart TV' and we wanted to ensure that the new campaign properly reflected our company name of simply Equiso.

@Diane - The entire Equiso team apologizes for your inconveniences. Anything at all we can do to help, please do get in touch: hello@equiso.com. As mentioned, we learned a lot from this campaign and the Equiso Play campaign will surely reflect this.

    5. Creator Frank Claycomb on March 26, 2014

@Paul, also mention that they listed huge partners that were all false. All of this needs brought forward.

    6. Creator Diane on March 26, 2014

equiso smart tv on a stick has been a flop for a long time. I went and bought a smart tv. I should have done that from the beginning...its less painfull. as for the equiso play, I would hate to fund that and wind up having to buy an xbox.

    7. Creator Frank Claycomb on March 26, 2014

@Equiso I appreciate your response but still have no faith. The entire first campaign was one lie after another. Why did you create a new account for the new campaign? Did you wish to distance yourself from this first one?

    8. Creator Frank Claycomb on March 26, 2014

@Paul, please mention that they said that they designed the Equiso and tweaked it much like they are for their new product. Then they (at least I believe) admitted to it being a chineese rebrand. They are using the same smoke and mirrors to appear legit.

    9. Creator Frank Claycomb on March 26, 2014

      Good on you Paul.

    10. Creator Equiso Smart TV on March 26, 2014

Hi @Frank. First, thanks for reading our announcement email – we really do appreciate our backers taking the time. We apologize sincerely for any inconvenience the Equiso SmartTV Stick campaign has caused you. We are more than happy to field any questions you may have at hello@equiso.com.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the upgraded version should you decide to give it a try. We learned so much about what works and what we needed to do better and its thanks to backers like you that we get the chance to bring the Equiso Play to Kickstarter.

@Div3r5ity - we'd love to check this for you. Please send an email to hello@equiso.com.

I sent my esquiso in for the free replacement upgrade a while ago. Can you check the status for me please?

    12. Creator Paul Burden on March 26, 2014

I've just left a comment on the new project to that effect, Frank.

    13. Creator Frank Claycomb on March 26, 2014

Just got the emails about the new product. Please tell me why I would trust you to deliver what you say? The first kickstarter was a joke. The finished product was garbage. I did the upgrade program thing and still have not even plugged the new one in because the first was such junk. Your custom tailored android version was not custom at all except for the splash. You sold a cheap rebranded Chinese stick. I believe this was even admitted online. We were told that there were numerous hardware revisions which were nothing more than trying out different sticks...
As far as I am concerned you guys are nothing but conartists.

    14. Creator Adam Packard on March 16, 2014

Unsure how I missed this replacement program, but mine has been almost unusable from the start, AND it came with a broken plug (out of the box). Anyway to still do a replacement for me? Thanks.

    15. Creator Bruce Bergman on January 21, 2014

Okay, I finally received my replacement unit. Thank you to the Equiso guys for sending it. To be fair, I shouldn't need to go and create a ticket to track down my order, which was lost in the first place, but at least it's in my hands again. I'm mollified. Thanks Equiso.

    16. Creator Div3r5ity on January 4, 2014

I sent my esquiso in for the free upgrade a while ago. Can you check the status for me please?

    17. Creator Equiso Smart TV on January 2, 2014

@Bruce Bergman. We don't see that you submitted a ticket to us, you might have sent an email to us which could have got lost. Go to support.equiso.com and submit a ticket so that we can help resolve this for you.

      -Chris

So, it's been FIVE MONTHS, Equiso! Happy New Year and all that, but do you think you'll ever send my replacement device? Or should I just leave a complaint with the BBB about your practices?

    19. Creator Diane on December 13, 2013

I got my replacement about 2 months ago and sent it back because it gave me a lot of usb error messages. I got the second replacement and I made a minor adjustment and it works like a charms. what did I do? I purchased a smart tv. the whole equiso idea has been very painfull for over a year.

I got my replacement retail version for my dead Equiso Pro about a week ago. It runs pretty well, but very hot. Equiso Forum user svartalf took his retail unit apart to see why it runs so hot:

"I bothered to crack one of the consumer units open to do a bit of analysis and maybe do a bit of work towards making a custom ROM happen as a play project. I was, to say the least, surprised and rather disappointed.

Uptek's thermal solution was to have this thick (and I emphasize this...) thermal pad stuck to the logo-ed top of the case. The pad was stuck to what appears to be a thin shim glued to the inside of the top. The WiFi antenna looks to be pogo-pin connected to a small stub on the top part of the case. The vent holes are on the side that should, by rights, not need any ventilation- and there is no ventilation or proper dissipation on the side with the SoC.

There's a reason they pinned it in conservative mode in the stock firmware. The "design" pushes thermal tolerances most of the time- and it might run "too hot" when you're maxing the device out. (I'm taking all of mine out of performance governor mode and putting it back to ondemand so it has a halfway chance of staying cooler until I can maybe come up with a redesign of this circlejerk they did there. It's tempting to cut a few small vent holes in the case top and use Artic Alumina epoxy and glue an old copper RAM mini heat sink to the SoC.

I know one thing...I'm not buying much of anything from Uptek. This is a brown paper bag over the head type item for them. (This isn't even reaching to what Equiso's been up to and how much "hang your head in shame" they've accumulated for this little venture...)"

Received my replacement unit this morning.
First impressions are good. Seems to run quickly and smoothly.
Played a couple of YouTube videos and they played well.
An improvement over the original so credit where credit is due.
      Thank you for the upgrade.

2 weeks after my last communication I opened a new ticket regarding my 2 units and their status. Per David: "Our shipping has been a little backed up, but your name is listed in the next batch. It should ship tomorrow. You will receive an email from USPS when it does with all the info."

    26. Creator Vassilis Skoullis on December 4, 2013

I've received my Equiso yesterday (Greece). It was shipped on November 22.
      Thanks!

An hour with youtube videos playing and no shutdowns. So far I am reasonably happy, just more than a year after it should have been...

    32. Creator Jesse Forgues on November 27, 2013

Took a few months but received my new Equiso stick (Walmart model) to replace my Basic one that never really worked correctly...
Cosmetically it is much better, wifi still a little flakey.

Finally got Wifi working after many many attempts. Started updating some apps that are out of date. Watched a few youtube videos and was actually impressed with the quality, then it randomly shutdown on its own and I was sitting at a black screen until I unplugged power and plugged power back in and it booted again. The device is pretty hot to touch so perhaps it overheated.
It has netflix and hbo go preinstalled so this is more what I originally thought I was backing. If I can get wifi working reliably and it does not shutdown on its own too much then I guess I'm reasonably happy.
If it keeps shutting down I will be disappointed....

    33. Creator Colm on November 26, 2013

Others have mentioned the replacement received was not new so it's possible they wait until they get an RMA'd device before sending out a replacement. This would explain the incredibly long delays. Sent mine in August and have yet to receive a replacement.

    34. Creator Daro Bruno on November 25, 2013

      Re: Marc Kloosterman
Good luck. They told me mine shipped two months ago and still nothing. I was first told it was shipped then, when it didn't arrive, I sent an email and told they didn't track shipments so it may have been lost and they would ship another. They aren't shipping anything but email.

Make your dumb TV smart, more like, Make your backers look like fools.

    35. Creator Marc Kloosterman on November 23, 2013

Sent my stick back, back in August ... got an email that the new stick has been shipped, yesterday! W00t!

I have opened support tickets (#1497, #1716 and #1806), and they keep closing the tickets as if it's been resolved! I hear from David Thompson at Equiso.

First response (Nov 6, although I opened the ticket in October): "We apologize for the inconvenient delay but our shipping department has been experiencing major setbacks, were still working on getting that retail stick out to you. Sit tight, it may still take a week or two."

Second Response (after they closed the ticket - Nov. 11): "The ticket is set as solved because the ticket has been addressed but that doesn't mean we're forgetting about you. We'll likely be mailing your stick this week."

Third Response (after they closed the second ticket - Nov. 19): "We apologize for the inconvenient delay but our shipping department has been experiencing major setbacks, which they have informed us are going to be cleared up this week, and the new units will begin to ship again. Sit tight, it may still take a week or two before your new stick arrives. Again, we are very sorry for the delay and are grateful for your continued support and patience. Thank you for choosing Equiso."

      Notice a pattern here?

    37. Creator Ben Lorenz on November 20, 2013

OK - I sent off my unit for the 1year program on Aug 19th, with a PROOF OF ARRIVAL on Thursday, August 22, 2013... Haven't heard a peep from Equiso since. Did I really just get robbed by these guys??

    38. Creator Bruce Bergman on November 18, 2013

Kickstarter SHOULD control these projects more, but I get their "hands off" attitude. If they just let the projects do whatever they want, and don't hold them to any kind of standard, then they can stand back and say "we're not responsible! don't sue us!" and avoid litigation. It's cowardly of them, but at least they're protecting their assets.

That all being said, the real evil here is the Equiso. They're not being honest with any of us, and they're just ignoring everyone. Ultimately, it will come back to hurt them, once we all start leaving comments in the social media about how poorly the product was handled. You know where they are on WalMart, so let your fingers do the talking!

    39. Creator david borowik on November 14, 2013

Going on 3 months now and still haven't received anything. I have exchanged multiple emails with CS and they all claimed there was a delay but mine would ship out "this week" - of course I never get anything. How is kickstarter letting them get away with this???

    40. Creator Johnny on November 13, 2013

It's pretty clear that we all just got scammed.

I'm never spending a penny on Kickstarter again. I hope many of you avoid using kickstarter as well.

    41. Creator Daro Bruno on November 9, 2013

      I sent mine the first week in August and a follow up email in September. Here is the most recent email thread following an email stating it would be shipped mid October;

    42. Creator Scott Crump on November 8, 2013

lol at their shipping department being inundated. give us a break really. almost 2 months since they received mine and i have nothing. there are several others in the same situation. you're so inundated that you cant get a small device sent out in 2 months time to a few hundred people? it literally takes less than 5 minutes for one person to handle printing the shipping label and sticking it in an envelope. you should be able to send out at least 50 a day with just one guy minimum. but we know the real excuse is they don't have the stock, they scammed us, scammed walmart and they have to deal with trying to get them from china and they send to everyone but backers first.

    43. Creator Bruce Bergman on November 6, 2013

Gosh, this is a new low. The original project wasn't terribly successful at meeting the stated goals, but it occasionally did "kinda" work. Now they've swindled us in to send them our poorly-working units so we have NOTHING at all to show for our support. No replacement unit, no half-working unit, nada. This is really a new low.

    44. Creator Peter on November 3, 2013

I didn't receive a reply to my concerns here on Sept 16th so I thought I would send a message to the Equiso Help Desk and see what they had to say. From the reply I gather that my replacement will be being sent later this week. They have at least acknowledged the receipt of my Equiso so hopefully they will find 10 minutes to put a postage label on a box and send my new unit.
Will have to wait and see.

      Oct 23 04:39 pm (EDT)

Hi Peter, the Boston office transferred your information over to our CA office. We're definitely planning on mailing you a new Equiso but our shipping department is currently inundated and it may be 1-2 weeks before this will go through. Our apologies for any trouble this delay causes.

    45. Creator Keagan on November 2, 2013

Mine was delivered to them on august 9, still waiting.

    46. Creator Garry Queen on November 1, 2013

I returned both of mines at the start of august too and i've neither heard or received anything back - do you have any update for me?

    47. Creator Scott Crump on November 1, 2013

They blocked me from their Facebook page which hasn't been updated in over a couple months. I doubt business is going good for them and who knows if we'll actually get anything. At this point I backed a project, got something other than what was promised. Sent it back and now have nothing and they have no communication about me or others in the same situation.

    48. Creator Chinmay on November 1, 2013

@equiso, can somebody please let me the status of my refund.
I have sent my old Equiso back with the original receipt of the newer unit I got from Walmart back in August.
But I havent recieved any refund or any communication from Equiso.
Can somebody please look into this?
I now have paid for 2 Equiso's and havent got anything back.
