The Problem: Diets are Temporary Fixes that Rely on Willpower

According to the ten time #1 New York Times Bestselling author Dr. Mark Hyman, the average person gains 11 pounds for every diet they go on. And, a study in Dr. Brian Wansink’s Slim by Design finds that only 8% of diets last longer than 3 months. 

WHY THEN do millions of people continue to follow whatever deprivation diet or quick fix is popular in the media? Why are people who have no sensitivity to gluten going gluten free? Why do we feel the need to completely cut food groups out of our diets in hopes of instant weight loss? Is that what “healthy” really means? Is that the message we want to teach kids from a young age? Are those the behaviors that will enable us to live long, happy, healthy and successful lives? Unfortunately not.

  • Concentrate on what your body is in the mood for
  • Understand what food groups make up your craving (fruits, veggies, protein, or starch)
  • Supplement with missing food groups (this usually involves adding additional fruits and veggies)
  • Portion- listen to your body's hunger cues and as a general guideline follow the USDA's my plate method (about 1/2 of your plate fruits and veggies, 1/4 protein and 1/4 starch) 

Rather than cutting out food groups or suggesting unreasonable rules, our innovative method guides users on a path to a healthy lifestyle.

CUSP Three Six Five is unlike any other health and wellness brand:

  • No meticulous counting or tracking of everything you eat. No willpower necessary (because it doesn’t last... how many failed “diets” have you experienced in your life?)
  • No forcing yourself to eat “healthy” meals that you don’t’ even like

Why We Need Your Help

CUSP Three Six Five is developing a completely personalized meal and workout app, different from anything currently on the market. However, in order to develop this incredible app, we need to be able to finance it.

The “CUSP It” app translates the teachings of The CUSP Method into an easy-to-use mobile application that helps users make educated nutrition and fitness choices no matter where they are.

(Because we might not always carry a book around with us, but we always have our cellphones). Innovative and unique features include:

  • 100% personalized meals, snacks and desserts based on your taste preferences
  • Complete freedom in choosing what you want to eat based on what you are in the mood for and how much time you available (we tell you the time it will take to make everything so you will never be in a crunch)
  • Plan and create grocery lists for meals you want to make during the week so whenever you’re in the mood for something the ingredients are already in your kitchen (but this is not a meal prep app- because that ends up relying on willpower-see our blog post about this here)
  • Search for meals that include specific perishable ingredients when they are close to going bad
  • Nutritional recommendations (and the reason for each recommendation so you can understand and apply these in the future) based on what you have already eaten that day
  • Thousands of meal options including only ingredients that you actually like

About Our Creator

As a certified fitness nutrition coach and a (soon-to-be) graduate of Georgetown University, I am confident that The CUSP Method’s combination of the most recent nutritional science and psychology of human eating habits will result in a healthier, happier you.

The CUSP Method is based on biological facts about the impact of willpower on our body’s glucose supply. 

According to a study published in Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, when exerting self-control, brain cells consume glucose faster than it can be replenished. Once our glucose supply is depleted, our thoughts and behavior are impaired. Therefore, continuing to exert willpower over time is extremely difficult, which is why with The CUSP Method you will never have to.
