What are we working on?
We are producing a short stop motion animation film titled, " The Halloween Pranksta". It was created in honor of Halloween traditions, whose themes have been present in cinematic storytelling for decades. We toy with these themes and add a twist to this allegorical tale, as it captures the imagination of a child exploring these traditions, both good and bad.
Carl Paolino, the producer, writer, and director of the film, takes us into the world of suburbia on a Halloween night, where we meet the Pranksta and his reluctant sidekick. As he lays out his plan, the only question that remains to be seen is, who will get pranked...? We’d love for you to see for yourself.
Carl has been working on this project for the past six months and built the entire set in his New York City based studio. The miniature characters were created using state-of-the-art materials such as silicone for their skin and replaceable plastic heads for expression. The animation will be shot in a high definition digital format and edited on an Avid Composer.
Although we plan to submit our film to international film festivals, our immediate goal is to have the completed film qualify for consideration in the Academy Award Short Subject Animation category.

Where will the funds go?
Without expectations, every seasoned professional approached this project as an act of love, driven solely by the opportunity to create something truly exceptional. Our goal is to bring to life a story conceived in a small independent studio with the polish and quality of a major studio production. However, even the most creatively driven projects have a cost:
- Travel expenses for our supervising animator from Los Angeles to New York City and providing him with two weeks of accommodations
- Rental of animation equipment for the studio
- Travel expenses for the director’s trip to Los Angeles, to direct the voice-over recording session with voice talent Mark Hamill
- The recording studio fees
- A mutually agreed upon fee for our voice over actors
- Misc. post production fees including digital transfers and raw stock cost
Our financial goal is based upon our bare-knuckle production needs. If we are lucky enough that our pledges surpass our target goal, it will only make any unforeseen production issues far less of a challenge for us down the line.
How does Kickstarter work?
Kickstarter is a trusted and amazing medium for bringing people together for upcoming projects. The principle idea is based on an all-or-nothing method to finance personal projects. In other words, a particular project must be completely funded before the proposed deadline. If not, we don't receive any of our pledges and the backers’ credit cards do not get charged. Backers may donate money at any time during the fundraising campaign and continue to donate funds even after we meet our goal.
