Do you have the urge to be a general and lead a huge powerful fantastic army? Well now is your chance to lead your armies in intense battle.
The Alliance of Light consists of Dwarfs, Elves and Humans which are constantly fighting off invading Goblins, Orcs and Trolls. You can Be a General in the Alliance of Light or the Alliance of Dark and build your army to defeat your enemy!
Battlehorn is a game where 2 players as generals of armies can battle each other. Your army can consist of dwarves, elves and humans which typically fight the armies of goblins, orcs, and trolls. Your dwarf and human army could fight an army exclusively consisting of elves which would have the 5 point same race army attack bonus. Or your orc army could fight an army of goblins and trolls.
War Horn Game Rules
This game is fairly simple to play and it does involve some simple math. A War Horn game starts out with each player putting down 4 rows of 7 cards each face down. If there are any archery cards they need to be put in the 4th row face up. The General Card goes behind the 4th row along with any captains or ballista units. You can only have a total of 7 cards on the 5th row.
So your General, captains and ballistas cannot exceed 7 altogether on that back row. A general adds extra attack and defense points to all units on his army all times through the game. The general can blow his War horn at any time to add extra attack points to all of his units on the field but once the horn is blown that general must wait 10 turns to blow it again.
As long as a captain is on the field that captain also adds an extra attack and defense points to all units on that side. Whoever wins the dice roll gets to have their army attack first. Each unit has an attack and a defense value.
There is also a bonus if a unit is attacking a different unit. The calvary units have a bonus against the knight units, the knights units have a bonus against the spear units and the spear units have a bonus against the calvary units.
If the attack points are higher on the attacking unit than the defense points on the defending unit, then the defending card gets eliminated and then the next card behind the eliminated one gets flipped over face up and takes that units place.
Each general takes turns attacking. After all 7 units on the front line and all archery or areal attack units finish attacking, then it is the next generals turn. Once all units on a generals army are defeated, then that general is defeated and the battle is over.
A human army could fight another human army or an orc army could fight another orc army. You can have a friend have an army of elves and yourself with an army of dwarfs battle against 2 others with armies of orcs and an army of trolls.
You can even play this game against yourself! There is no limit to how many players can play against each other. In other words there can be multiple generals or alliances. As long as there is room for 7 columns of 4 rows of units, the number of players battling can be many and very intense.
The recommended units per player is 300 but it is up to each player to decide how large their armies will be. There are massive casualties and it moves very fast. It is up to each player how many units are to be played in each battle. The battle ends when all units on the battlefield are defeated and the general is left.
