Have you ever wondered not just WHAT a penis, but WHY a penis? What are they even good for? Prize-winning pretend-journalist Angelica Louren sets out to solve our generation’s greatest question in this eye-opening investigative film interviewing the top professionals on men’s health: women.
I wrote D-Lemma after getting fed up with common misconceptions about simple women’s anatomy. My breasts aren’t perfectly symmetrical and the size of my labia has nothing to do with how promiscuous I am. Having sex with 100 men is not going to make my vagina any different than having sex 100 times with one man. It’s not memory foam. So I thought, “What if the roles were reversed?” and sat down to write D-Lemma: The Hard Truth.
We've got an awesome team for this project - the Director and Producer are both Marine Corps veterans and at least 50% of us is consistently funny (hint: it's Stephanie). Our storyboard artist? You guessed it. Marine Corps. It's a film made by women, featuring a cast of all women, for a female audience - you don't get a lot of that these days.
And guess what? Everyone on the team is getting paid. Creative labor is still labor.
My goal for this film is that women (okay, men too) get a real laugh out of the reversal of this scenario - because we’ve all had a man in our life that thinks we can produce milk without being pregnant or believes that we pee out of our vaginas. We don’t, by the way. Still more women suffer real physical harm and neglect from actual medical professionals who hold outdated beliefs about us. It’s frustrating - but when we turn that frustration into comedy we can all have a good laugh about it. Maybe.

Risks and challenges
From the Director:
Financing is our biggest challenge. I've completed several projects before - both short doc and narrative - but this is the biggest project, both written and directed by me, that I've had to secure financing for. I've assembled the project from scratch - from story conception to cast and crew.
Thankfully I have Stephanie - she is the jam to my toast The Biden to my Obama. She's incredibly organized, connected, and knows just the right chord to strike with a wiener joke or two. She keeps the project from going off the deep end.
This film is happening - and this Kickstarter is going to help us make it. A successful campaign will allow us better equipment, better lighting, better locations, and better ability to connect with our audience. And I'll be updating you the entire way throughout the whole creative process.
Without it I'll just be making a weird film in my basement - but it's getting made.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
