WHAT IS GUITAR GODZ VR?
Guitar Godz VR is rhythm music game for PlayStation VR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. It lets you rock out on stage in front thousands of adoring fans to live the rockstar fantasy.
We aim to bring in the biggest artists in rock history to deliver the best rock setlist in music gaming history.
Guitar Godz VR will release on PlayStation VR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. (See more below about STRETCH GOALS for other platforms).
WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASED?
October or November of 2017.
HOW MANY SONGS WILL THERE BE?
We'd like to have 40-50 songs upon release. Super fun, super awesome songs from the biggest artists in rock history!
WILL THERE BE DIFFERENT VENUES?
Yes, we plan to have 6-8 venues that unlock as you progress through the game that hold even larger and larger crowds! Wouldn't it be great to rock out in front of 100,000 screaming fans?
WILL THERE BE MULTIPLAYER?
On PlayStation VR, we can have 2-player, local multiplayer since one person can wear the PSVR headset, and the other person can watch the TV. Doing this on Vive and Rift is still TBD, but we'll let you know!
ARE THERE ANY OTHER INSTRUMENTS?
For this version of the game, it's just guitar, but possibly bass guitar as well for the PS VR local multiplayer version.
HOW WILL THE FUNDS BE USED?
With the funds, 20% will go towards marketing, 30% will go towards development, and 50% will go towards music licensing (the best rock songs aren't cheap!).
WHO IS ON THE TEAM?
We're a team of ex-Rock Band, Call of Duty, GTA V, Red Dead Redemption and Bioshock veterans, so we know how to ship AAA-quality titles.
DO I NEED TO BUY NEW CONTROLLERS?
NO! Either use existing 5-button (not the 6-button) guitar controllers that you have or just use the 3D controllers that come with the PS VR, HTC Vive or Oculus Rift. Check the video to see how it works.
DO I NEED A VR HEADSET TO PLAY?
Yes and no. If we reach our STRETCH GOAL of $700k, we will launch the game on PlayStation 4 as well so you don't need a VR headset. If we hit $900k, we will launch on Xbox One if there is sufficient demand from Xbox One players.
WHEN CAN WE SEE MORE OF THE MIXED REALITY GAMEPLAY?
We really want to get more high quality 360 concert footage first, then we can show more. We need the best quality for our players!
WHERE CAN I WATCH THE KICKSTARTER VIDEO IN HD?
HOW MANY DIFFICULTY LEVELS?
Four: Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert.
WHICH GUITARS WILL YOU SUPPORT?
Wireless PS3 Rock Band and Guitar Hero guitars that have USB dongles are confirmed working.
We also plan to support the wireless Xbox 360 Rock Band and Guitar Hero guitars with USB dongles.
PS4 Rock Band 4 guitars as well, but not the Guitar Hero Live 6-fret guitar. The Xbox One guitars are still TBD.
Wired PlayStation & Xbox guitars are not planned to be supported, but we will look into it time permitting.
WILL THERE BE ADVANCED MOVES LIKE HAMMER ONS AND PULL OFFS?
Yes, of course!
CAN YOU MAKE CUSTOM SONGS?
We would love to make this possible, but it would be a post-launch update if we do it, deep into 2017 or 2018.
CAN YOU DOWNLOAD ADDITIONAL SONGS?
Yes, we plan to have a robust plan post-launch for theme song packs from some of the best artists in rock history!
WILL ONLINE PLAY EVER APPEAR?
Yes! We know how much people want to play with each other online, but this won't happen until 2018. We have to focus on making the core game awesome first, and hope the local multiplayer tides the fans over until then.
Risks and challenges
We are talking with the very biggest artists in rock history. Some have not licensed their music to a game before, or have done so on a limited basis. While we're working with a licensing team that has worked on the very biggest music game franchises and with the very biggest artists, there is always a chance we don't get 100% of the songs that we'd like to include.
In terms of the launch date of October or November, we feel quite confident about it. The team is extremely experienced in shipping AAA games, so we understand well how to manage scope in order to hit our dates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
