COTTON: Everything started when we met an Italian entrepreneur who produces high quality fabrics near Lake of Como, passionate about old fabrics. This guy in his sixties told an incredible story. His aim was to get more details about an old UK cotton fabric. He heard that it was used by the RAF (Royal Air Force) in the 20s and 30s for pilot suits. These clothes extended the survival time in the sea from a few minutes to almost half an hour. He found out that this special woven, longstaple fabric was higly water resistant due to a finely spun yarn, tightly woven. It was only used until the 1930s when it was finally priced out of the market and being overcome by synthetic yarns, oil derivated. In short, this guy came back to Italy and started developing new techniques to manufacture this style of cotton fabric. The GOTS certified organic cotton we use consists of high staple yarns tightly woven then twisted more than the norm, and beaten 3 times to make it dense and tight. When the fabric comes in contact with water, it expands and stiffens, repelling water and other liquids; the yarns return to their original softness once dry. For this fabric we use 30% more yarn compared to traditional fabric. That's what's makes the jacket highly wind proof as well. For these reasons our fabric is a 100% natural fabric which in terms of natural breathability and protection has no competition. It Is top of the range.
ABOUT RECYCLED WOOL Re.Verso™: is a new textile platform, 100% Made in Italy -Tuscany, result of the collaboration between our friends Green Line, Nuova Fratelli Boretti and Lanificio Stelloni. Together these companies have created a new, unique fashion textile offer that is completely integrated from fiber to finished fabric.Traceable and transparent, the company uses a new and dynamic approach to production based around a careful selection of wool fiber that can be re-engineered. The Re.Verso system begins by collecting pre-consumer waste fabric, mainly from Italy. This work is carried out by Green Line. This pre-consumer waste fabric is carefully sorted by hand and then mechanically transformed back into fiber by Nuova Fratelli Boretti. The fiber is now ready to be spun and used to make fashion woven and jersey fabrics, flat-bed knitted garments by Lanificio Stelloni.- High quality standards, rigorous process controls and selections often made only by hand
- An eco-responsible innovation that allows significant environmental and energy savings
- Full traceability and transparency of its processes
- Born in Italy: Re.Verso™ re-engineerd wool products are made of a raw material really "born" in Italy
- Re.Verso as an open green textile platform: the possibility for a brand or retailers to integrate this green system of circular economy by reusing their own textile pre-consumer waste fabrics.
- Experience and expertise: Re.Verso ™ is the result of the history of three companies that together have 150 years of history!
