dre.dance is thrilled to make our SummerStage debut at the East River Park on Friday, August 19th, 2011!
Become a part of the company by supporting our new work. Your generous contribution, whether $1 or $1k, will go directly to our dancers' modest salaries, production costs, and rehearsal space rental.
See your dollar's impact with dre.dance’s debut at SummerStage. The evening's program includes the company premiere of a movement-theatre interpretation of NPR/Radiolab’s beloved story, Goat On A Cow. The company will also perform excerpts of our most recent evening-length work, dre.diohead, inspired by the universal yet highly personal music of iconic alternative rock band, Radiohead. Filling out the program are two emotional duets, our acclaimed fall as well as a world-premiere.
Join us for the FREE SummerStage performance as dancers Tommy Scrivens, Mia Malin, Maria Carofano, Christina Black, Zac Hammer, Katie Hamrah, Mandy Mondoro, and Drew Heflin bring Artistic Director Andrew Palermo’s vision to life.
Founded in 2005 by Andrew Palermo and Taye Diggs, dre.dance has garnered praise from publications including The New York Times, which has called its style a mix of “high energy, deliberate athletic gesture and checked power.” They have since presented six full-length NYC seasons, with performances and residencies around the country.
'If dre.dance were a drink they would be whiskey on the rocks. No twists or garnishes or anything to subdue their flavor - just raw unadulterated dance so strong it barely needs a space to contain it'. (Eileen Elizabeth-iDANZ)
