HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical

The money that we raise will go toward the cost of costuming 25 tribe members, each of whom play multiple roles within the production ($1500), the cost of purchasing the materials to build the set ($1000), and the cost of hiring a band to accompany us live for rehearsals and performance ($2500).

Our theatre company puts on many productions throughout the year. Each production has it's own set of challenges. Through our experience, we have built a qualified team of professionals who are prepared for the challenges we may face. We are able to overcome technical issues, formulate detailed plans, and execute quality productions.
Specific risks and challenges include: re-casting roles in the event of an actor needing to back out of the production (rare, but not uncommon), re-designing the set/costumes due to unforeseen complications or limitations of space and time (also rare, but not uncommon), being located in Southern Louisiana and opening a show during hurricane season (Plans are in place should we need to alter the rehearsal/production schedule due to inclement weather caused by severe tropical activity)
Nudity is part of the dramatic action of the musical as it enhances the themes of vulnerability, sexual liberation, and our dependence on material possessions. The nude scene WILL be included in HAIR and it will be handled in a professional manor that is non-gratuitous and is comfortable (enough) for both the actors and the audience members. Our director, Katie, is working with the lighting designer and choreographer to stage this scene in an appropriate, artistic manor.
Aside from the few minutes when the tribe disrobes, they will be playing multiple characters throughout the production including: Scarlett O'Hara, Clark Gable, Native Americans, Astronauts, High School Principals, 1940's house wives, The Supremes, Abraham Lincoln, Ulyssis S Grant, and MUCH more! The cost of costuming the entire tribe is a large portion of our budget because each tribe member plays multiple roles.
I'm interested in having my logo in your program. Can you tell me more specifically how many people it will reach?
Burke Theatre seats 220 people, so the program itself will reach up to 1,300 people alone during our six performance run. In addition to having your logo in our program, it will be posted on our website: http://riveterstheatre.weebly.com/ as well as on our Facebook page, "The Riveters". Our Facebook page currently has over 230 followers. The cast and crew will also be using our poster as their Facebook profile pictures, and with nearly 40 people working on the production, the number of people to see your logo on social media will grow exponentially as each of these 40 people has hundreds of friends.
Not only will your logo appear on the program, website, and social media, but it will also be on our posters which will be hung around town and in local businesses.
We will also be doing a radio interview with KRVS closer to the opening and we will announce a list of sponsors live on the air.
All in all, your business advertisement will have the potential to reach nearly 10,000 people, if not more.
Because HAIR touches on many themes that are still relevant and sensitive in today's society (race, gender, religion, war, and sex) we want to hold a forum for a community discussion on how these issues were handled in the 60's and what, if anything has changed since then. This event will be free, and open to the public.
