About this project
Want more stuff for no extra charge? Of course you do. Now that we've passed our initial funding goal the first two stretch goals have been unlocked. As we get closer to the second, we'll unlock another.
1) Eternal Autumn Trading Cards - Set of 5 B&W Cards ($5,000) - Achieved!
Once we reach $5,000, everyone who has selected a physical reward ($10 and up) will receive a set of 5 limited edition, black and white Eternal Autumn trading cards in addition to the reward they have selected. These cards will only be available through Kickstarter.
2) If the project makes bank the backers get Bank$ ($6,500)
Once we reach $6,500, everyone who has selected a physical reward ($10 and up) will receive a 2nd copy (or 3rd or 5th depending on your reward choice) of Eternal Autumn #1 with a Variant Cover drawn by comic veteran DARRYL BANKS in addition to the reward they have selected. (Digital only backers will have both covers included in their edition.)
Daron and Chris' Horizon's End co-collaborator, Darryl Banks is best known for his work on DC's Green Lantern and for co-creating Green Lantern: Kyle Rayner. Darryl is ready and waiting to put his stamp on Eternal Autumn, so lets put him to work, shall we?
(This second cover will also be colored by the illustrious Ross A. Campbell. And a sample of the amazing work these two do together has been added to the Rewards Section below.)
3) Mystery Reward ($????)
This reward will be unlocked as we get close to funding the Darryl Banks Variant Cover reward.
Eternal Autumn is the story of a post-human world, where the human race has been hunted to near extinction by the creatures that haunt our dreams and nightmares. Near the turn of the 21st century, tensions between the Werewolf Nation and the Vampire Kingdom exploded, and the centuries long feud became an all out war. For years this war was carried out in secret, but when the Vampire Kingdom unleashed a zombie horde on the unsuspecting werewolves, the war spilled into man's world. Mankind, unfortunately, was unprepared and subsequently wiped out.
Our story picks up decades later. The Werewolf Nation and Vampire Kingdom have splintered into various factions that are constantly at war, both internally and externally, as they vie for power, territory, and control of the earth's last natural resource: humans. The story follows a group of survivors making their way across the barren wasteland of the former United States, as they look for other survivors and a fabled human city that has not only survived but flourished.
Eternal Autumn is the second collaboration between writers Daron Kappauff and Chris Delloiacono. This Kickstarter is for the first issue of the initial 5-issue arc. The first issue is a complete story that not only serves as the reader's introduction to the world of Eternal Autumn, but also sets up what's to come in the rest of the initial arc and beyond. Issue #1 will feature 22 pages of story, with additional pages devoted to various back up materials (some of which are detailed throughout the various rewards). The art for the series is being provided by Iwan Nazif, whose kinetic pencils, inks, and gray tones bring a cohesiveness to the series not normally seen in comics today. Iwan has worked for Dark Horse Comics in the past, and most recently he was the penciler for the comic adaption of How to Train Your Dragon 2 in Malaysia.
Veteran comic book artist PHIL HESTER (best known for his iconic run on Green Arrow with Kevin Smith) will be providing the pencil and ink cover to Eternal Autumn #1. Then, rising superstar colorist ROSS A. CAMPBELL (best known for his color work on the covers for Image's Wayward) will bring Phil's stunning line-work to vibrant life. Rounding out the creative team is veteran letterer, DAVE LANPHEAR of A Larger World Studios. Dave's been a mainstay of the industry for over a decade, and he's currently lettering a handful of titles for Valiant comics.
The images below are samples from Eternal Autumn #1. These are finished pages from the issue (minus the lettering), all fully penciled, inked, and toned by Iwan Nazif.
Making comics is expensive, and your pledges will help us finish getting this one produced. We are firm believers in making sure the artists and creators we work with are paid fair rates for their amazing work. With that in mind, a good portion of the pledge money will go to paying the artists so they can complete the issue and create the rewards for the campaign. The rest of the pledge money will go to printing the comic and shipping it and the rewards to the backers.
The following is a brief introduction into some of the characters who populate the world of Eternal Autumn. We've also included Iwan's original character concept sketch for each one (all of which he nailed on the first attempt).
Although young and beautiful, there is much more to this young woman than she even knows. In addition to being the group's de facto leader, Mya is a ferocious fighter, with acrobatic abilities bordering on the supernatural. She is always the first to rush into battle or to step in harms way to save a friend. She is stubborn and opinionated, and she has no problem with chastising anyone she disagrees with. She leaves her fellow survivors no choice but to follow her lead whether it's into battle or the mockery of the everyday life they lead.
Sandal is a tracker of the highest caliber, and he uses this skill not only to hide his fellow survivor's movements, but also to find them food and shelter as they travel through the wastelands of the former United States. Additionally, he has a preternatural ability to sense danger and uses it to help the group avoid predators whenever possible. Although he's gruff with most of the group, he's always willing to risk his life for them at the drop of a hat. And while he wears his infatuation with Mya on his sleeve, her obliviousness (whether real or faked) to his advances only increases his persistence.
Father Harris may well be the oldest human alive. He recalls the Old World of almost half a century ago, and relishes the opportunity to relate tales of the way "things were." Even through the ravages of time and the horrors he's seen, Father Harris still carries his faith in a higher power that few are willing to subscribe to any longer. He is a fatherly figure to the group of survivors he travels with, both in the way he teaches and protects them. Although a holy man, he is willing to raise a hand in defense to protect the living. And while seemingly an open book, there is much about the good father that his companions don't know.
The ages-old conflict between the Vampire Kingdom and the Werewolf Nation shattered the world's balance when the vampires unleashed hordes of zombies upon their unknowing foes. While this desperate gambit succeeded in culling a good portion of the Werewolf Nation, it really only evened the odds and brought the conflict to a stalemate and an uneasy truce. But like all wars, some beings just want to keep fighting them, and the truce splintered both the Vampire Kingdom and the Werewolf Nation.
Now, fractured and spread across the former United States, the werewolf tribes desperately search for any remaining pockets of human life. They've carved out small, individual nations across North America, and fight amongst themselves over territory and bloodlines. And although the werewolves may be a divided collection of Pack Houses, they still have a common enemy they long to destroy, and a desire to avenge the past.
Whether there's more room in hell or not, zombies walk the Earth in Eternal Autumn. After being released by their vampire masters to destroy the Werewolf Nation, these mindless creatures quickly turned to easier prey and began feeding on humans. Decades later, packs of these creatures shamble across the planet, hunting a prey that's all but extinct.
Now, while these creatures lumber, lurch, and creep across the landscape during the day, mindlessly devouring the hapless living they encounter, when night falls, they become something else entirely. Under the cover of night these monsters transform into alpha predators that hunt for their prey like nothing the world has ever seen before. What's their secret and what might it mean for the other monsters of this world?
Obviously, there's a whole world of supporting characters who will appear throughout the series, and unlike most comics, one of those supporting characters could be you. As outlined throughout the rewards, we're letting our supporters become characters in our world, and this is something we plan on doing with each subsequent issue and Kickstarter campaign. For the first issue, backers have the choice of being brought to life (or un-life in some cases) as a number of different characters. Some of the specific drawn-in reward choices will only be available for each campaign (as in the members of Mya's group for this project), while others will appear again (the zombies for instance). So if a particular character catches your eye, make sure to snatch them up because they won't likely be available again later.
For more details on the drawn in supporting characters see the rewards column to the right of the page .

Once you've made your reward selection, and prepared yourself for the world of Eternal Autumn, take a look at these other comic projects. If you find any of them interesting please consider backing them as well.
Risks and challenges
Our biggest challenge will be getting everything done in time for our estimated delivery date. With a full team of working professionals, who have various projects in and out of the comic industry, coordinating everyone's deadlines will be our biggest hurdle. To combat this, we've tried to give ourselves enough lead time, but like all things in the comic industry, nothing is certain. We will continue updating throughout the process, and we'll let everyone know if we run into any complications.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
