Everything is all lined up. A bluegrass band consisting of some fine New Orleans musicians; a film nearing completion; a string quartet; an original score composed, blending the sounds and even the instrumentation of old and new in an interesting and groundbreaking way; a recording engineer with some time on his hands and a vested interest in the project.
That's where you come in. The recording engineer (me) who is here (in Seattle) needs to meet with and record the musicians who are over there (in New Orleans). I don't need much in the way of creature comforts and there's a couch or bed of some sort to crash on at the director's house. What I need is to raise money for a plane ticket.
Hopefully the slideshow gives you an idea of how the music works with the aesthetic of the filming location (Manson, WA) and why we absolutely have to get these musicians involved. Keep in mind I'm just the sound guy though not the cinematographer!
If you'd like to learn more about the film you can find our webpage here: http://www.theloopfilm.com/
If you'd like to learn more about the musicians, check out The Ramblin' Letters (the regular gig of some of the bluegrass players we're working with): http://www.ramblinletters.org/
The string quartet is made up of members of the New Resonance Orchestra which can be seen in a more experimental collaboration with the director here:
Here's their homepage: http://www.newresonanceorchestra.org/
These musicians are great and we can't wait to bring their energy to the project. Your support is what's going to make this possible.
Check out all the great rewards! New to this fundraiser, advanced tickets to screenings are now available as well as digital downloads of the film's soundtrack!
Included in the soundtrack will be a great bluegrass version of the Fats Domino Song, "Blueberry Hill" which you can hear a rough cut of in the project video at the top of the page. Please buy a copy of the DVD or soundtrack and help get me to New Orleans!
If you've been wanting to contribute to the film but haven't yet done so, now is the perfect time.
You guys are fantastic I can't do it without you...thank you so much!
