The music video is for the song "Keep Your Distance" by Laurencia. Laurencia is an up and coming soul RnB artist from the United States and we have the honour of creating a music video for her.
The song is about a woman who is urging her love interest to stay away from her. She knows their relationship is toxic but she is not strong enough to let him go whenever he is around.
We want to translate this concept in the music video by creating a dreamscape of her sexual thoughts and desires. In the real world, a woman makes eye contact with a man in a bar, she feels a very strong sexual attraction towards him. In a dreamscape, we see different scenarios in which she is in a constant battle with herself between what she thinks are society's "ideals" and her own wants and needs.
This will include scenarios of the woman praying and in a milk bath in various locations to "cleanse herself" from sexual desires that will be represented by Holi powders and smoke grenades that will be shown throughout the video.
So, that is what this project is all about. This music video is going to capture a lot of sensitive emotions that sometimes are hard for people to be open about. Making all of that come together is why we need your help. We are students of the University of Winchester so any content that we create is completely self-funded.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge is getting enough funding to be able to complete this music video with the materials that we feel will add to the music video. If this project is completely backed, the music video described above will be created. You will also receive the awesome prizes according to your donation. As we are university students, we are producing the music video and all that involves in that process ourselves; so unless one of us dies suddenly, all plans move forward!
The challenges will be to make sure that the video shoot goes smoothly and that our main actress does not get frostbite while filming in November and December.
We believe we are capable of doing creating the music video that we originally envisioned and know that with your support it will have a even better final product.
