Be kind; Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
Shredded Secrets is a story-based platformer that lets you step into the lives of four people at a middle school - Isabella, Taylor, London and Oakley.
In Shredded Secrets you will find that while their lives intersect at different points at school, each character has a complex story that unfolds as you travel through their life, face their problems, and help them resolve their problems in meaningful and productive ways.
Shredded Secrets was created by team Sarcastic Shark Clouds, a group of 6 graders at the Girls Make Games summer camp in Seattle, WA hosted by Smashing Ideas.
The prototype developed at camp allows you to experience life as seen by Isabella, a school nerd who is always getting bullied. A typical day at school for her involves avoiding insults hurled at her, and seeking comfort in cotton candy ice cream.
Isabella's story arc resolves with befriending her bully - we won't tell you how it happens, but you could...

The team spent 3 weeks writing, designing, and programming the prototype for Shredded Secrets. Each team member designed a character and created their backstory, appearance, dialogue, and more.
GMG runs summer camps all over the United States, and of the 33 games developed this summer, Shredded Secrets made it to the top 5. The top teams went on to compete at GMG’s 5th Annual Demo Day held at PlayStation HQ in San Mateo, CA.
The Sarcastic Shark Clouds pitched Shredded Secrets to a panel of industry leaders:
- Anna Sweet, SVP of Business Development at Caffeine
- Shawn Layden, Chairman of Worldwide Studios, PlayStation
- Devon Pritchard, EVP of Business Affairs at Nintendo of America
- Phil Spencer, EVP of Gaming at Microsoft
- Connie Booth, VP of Product Development at PlayStation
The judges were blown away by Sarcastic Shark Cloud's creativity and emotional maturity, awarding the game with Best Narrative and the 2018 Grand Prize!
This Kickstarter will let the girls continue to work on the game, hire professional artists, musicians, and programmers, and publish a polished and complete version of their concept. Shredded Secrets will be developed at LearnDistrict and published on Steam in Spring 2020! (PC/Mac)

Meet the incredible team behind Shredded Secrets: Crystal, Gracie, Isadora and Keira!
Hi! I'm a 12 year old girl who loves cats and gaming. This was my first time attending Girls Make Games and I'm super surprised how amazing this camp has been. In the future I hope to work in the gaming industry. I created the Shredded Secrets character Taylor!
My name is Gracie, I am a 12 year old girl who looooves geckos. in fact I have my own Leopard gecko Iggy(follow him on insta @Iggytheleo.). I love reading mystery and my favorite author is Lemony Snicket who made two of my favorite series, " A Series of Unfortunate Events" and "All the Wrong Questions." I have been coding ever since my 3rd grade. My Mom showed me scratch and I was immediately addicted. Creating weird animations, glitchy side scrollers, and if I do say so myself some pretty bad self portraits 😅. I worked on the character Oakley.
Salutations I am Isadora, I am a big fangirl who spends too much time on Tumblr and reading fanfiction. I have some major problems honestly. I worked on the character London but also helped with the character dialogue for Taylor. That's it, that's me and all you need to know.
My name is Keira and I'm 12 years old. I worked on Isabella's levels, dialog, and story line. It was a lot of fun to make our game and seeing it come together. I have always really liked playing games. My favorite game is Ori and the Blind Forest. I also like drawing, reading, and listening to music. I have two guinea pigs that I love a lot.

Risks and challenges
The biggest risk with this project is timeline. We're running workshops and developing our studio's own games alongside which puts us in a bind. With the Kickstarter's assistance we'll be able to hire help to get the games out on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
