One Week In - Greenlight and Concept Art
One week in and we’re ever so close to the halfway line! Any extra support to push us over that line would be greatly appreciated right now :) Perhaps your mum would like to be a beta backer…?
In important news, Jupiter Hell is now on Steam Greenlight! Please go upvote us on Greenlight if you want to see the game on Steam. And tell all your friends to upvote us too! And your mum, of course.
We have high hopes of getting on GOG.com with a DRM-free version too - vote here!
We have some of our concept art to share with you (click through for high res), with commentary from Ewa Labak, our illustrator and concept artist:
Creating concept art for ChaosForge is one of my favourite work experiences so far! Our lead artist Lukasz takes charge of the creative process but at the same time gives a lot of free space for my input and ideas. Later we discuss the choices and I receive a very constructive feedback.
We really like the design of the scout drone, which is a mutual effort from me and Lukasz - the form has a bit of a retro feel, as we didn't want to make it too futuristic. The setting has to feel real and mechanical.
The design of the Purifier unit I based on an evolution of concepts we’ve had over time, but with this I was able to give a lot of input. They have a heavy plated uniform which is incredibly sturdy and also vacuum-proof. They are combat-ready 'astronauts' with a powerful weapon, which later in the game will be possible to obtain by the player. But trying to steal it from one of these guys will take some risk!
In upcoming updates we’ll have more info on character progression, tactical vs strategic challenges, engine design, a Roguelike Radio episode about Jupiter Hell and much more. In the meantime don’t miss out on our regular development livestreams on Twitch where you can see more of how the game is built and ask Kornel questions directly.
