Also, I have an announcement: we're embarking upon a new two-volume project called The Latinx Archive. Judging from the submissions we're already received this will be a fantastic book! Check out the call for submissions and pass on to any Latino/a writers you know.
Hi Everyone, I hope that you've had some time to read and enjoy Latin@ Rising. You made this happen and I appreciate it! If for some reason you didn't receive the book or if you have any questions, let me know.
Hi everyone, those who ordered a physical copy of the book should be receiving it this week or next. Please let me know if you don't. Also, everyone should receive an email in about two weeks with a link to the ebook!
I want to thank my mom and dad for always supporting me in my crazy wanderings. They have been wonderful and I'll forever be grateful. This book would not have been made without their love.
One of the best things that has happened to this project was the entry of Wings Press and Bryce Milligan onto the scene. A couple of days ago I flew up to San Antonio, and Bryce and I packed up the books and got them ready to send. Bryce is a true lover of literature and he knew from the beginning that Latin@ Rising was a needed addition to both the speculative fiction and Latin@ communities...and that many people are already crossing the border between these two worlds. Un abrazo fuerte!
And finally, thank you for all your patience and support. Enjoy your holiday reading! Con mucho amor. Wepaaaa! Matt
Hi everyone, In case you have moved or changed email addresses please go change it on your backer page (if you haven't already done so). The publisher has requested the list of donors, so I wanted to make sure I've got your right info.
Or, just email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
Latino/a speculative fiction often imagines the effects of an oppressive political turn on Latino/a communities. Border walls, Neo-Nazis taking over, and racial and ethnic purges, are common topics in Latino/a speculative fiction. One thread appears in these works to answer to the situation: Solidarity. Solidarity among Latinos/as of many nationalities, solidarity among different economic classes, solidarity between Latinos/as and other ethnic groups, solidarity between the ghosts of the past and the present, solidarity formed through churches, restaurants, work sites, and of course, digital technologies. These solidarities are not easy, but they are necessary. Encourage your friends and family to pick up some Latino/a speculative fiction, and imagine the future of solidarity.
Hi Everyone, thanks again for all your patience. Just letting you know that you'll receive the anthology in December 2016 and that it will be available for everyone else to purchase early in 2017. We're very excited about this! Wings Press has come up with the cover art as well, a painting by the Chilean artist Liliana Wilson http://www.lilianawilson.com/:
