Update: Bonus Incentive!
The very talented and erudite Jennifer Goodland has just offered an exciting, new incentive to our most generous backers. Jenn is involved with her own project, Big Year Colorado, a massive photojournal project chronicling a quest to visit every town in Colorado in one year. She's nobly offered a special matte print from her photos available at a special event party in August. This special incentive is offered to backers contributing at the $60 and $100+ levels. We will gladly mail the print out to any backer that can't make the party.
What we're doing:
Our team is looking forward to producing the third book in our anthology series. We've got a big pile of submissions to paw through, we've got a stack of awesome art, and we're anxious to put them all together in a brand new book. The biggest impediment in front of us: printing costs. As struggling artists and writers, it is difficult for us to raise the funds for a minimum print run.
As a bonus, we're also working on a special, sequential-art only book, themed 'Ancient', over which we're crazy excited. Printing two books at once is a very ambitious venture, financial complications aside.
The books will each be around 200 pages, with a minimum print run of 100 books for each book, it should cost us a little over $600 for each run. We're asking for $1300 to cover costs and fees (such as kickstarter's cut of the proceeds)
We've already collected our submissions, we just need to edit and set the layout. We should be on schedule to deliver a finished product by July 2012.
How Kickstarter Works:
If you decide to back a project on kickstarter, you pledge a certain amount of money for a set of incentives. If the campaign is successful, the money is withdrawn on the last day and we get to work delivering on our promises. If we fail to gather enough interested backers, we go back to the drawing board and you don't have to pay a dime.
Who we are:
Michael William Prince - Editor
Leila Del Duca - Art Director
Justin Cummings - Assistant Editor
Besides books, we also sell creator buttons and magnets to help raise funds for our projects. Our creator buttons feature original art depicting famous artists and thinkers with inspiring quotes from their life and work. A sampling of our more popular buttons are shown below. Check our etsy page for a more complete listing of Cellar Door Products and Incentives.
Meet our Collaborators:
We're collecting interviews with some of our writers and artists, giving a sneak peek into some of the stories and the personalities behind them. Check them out!
Stay tuned for Andy's upcoming project: Legacy Action Comics! It's a quarterly comics anthology filled with monsters, robots, lasers, bullets, and bouncey lady-parts squeezed into spandex.
Here's the other two thirds of our editing staff, making a rare, on-camera appearance. I've a few snippets to share as well:
An excerpt from "The Cursed Smith"
And a few rough pages from Leila's comic direct from Robert's Crazy Brain
Some art prints might not be available pending artist permission. The editorial staff promises to work with backers to make sure they receive appropriate incentive satisfaction.
