About

Plot Synopsis

Thousands of years after its formation, The Galactic Federation is facing obliteration. The once small rebel army that opposed the Federation have renamed themselves The Grand Resistance Army and now their power is getting closer and closer to that of the federation. To make matters worse, the Andromedan Alliance, the longtime enemy of the Federation sees the situation as an opportunity to eliminate their longtime rivals and tensions continue build up between the two entities, as the Andromedan Alliance’s wishes become increasingly evident. To answer the growing threats surrounding them the Galactic Federation decided to resuscitate the greatest and most successful soldier who has been peacefully sleeping in an incubation chamber for the past 800 years after being rendered nearly useless after a mission gone wrong. Except one thing is different now; instead being a soldier with a normal body and an advanced mind, the Galactic Federation outfits their top soldiers with mechanical limbs equipped with powerful minds, thus giving them minds with bodies to match. With this new revelation along with the return of their greatest soldier the Federation stands a chance against its opponents.

Join the Adventure

Growing up I became a huge fan of the Alien and Metroid franchises and watching/playing them turned me into a huge science fiction fan. This is my first foray into publishing and is partially inspired by those series'. My book is a 100+ page book chronicling the adventures of a Galactic Federation soldier through first person logs. I've already completed my book and it's been edited by a professional editor, so it's ready to be published now. But this will only be possible through your support.

Self publishing, while cheaper than it used to be is still expensive. Kickstarter gives me the oppurtunity to share my book with the world, and oppurtunity that previously would not have been possible. For those who don't know Kickstarter works on an all or nothing basis, so if i'm even one dollar short of my goal I wont see any of the money I've raised, and my work will never be seen.

Why self publish instead of contacting a publisher?

Publishing has changed a lot in the past few years. There has been a rise in the number of people writing books and big publishers are less and less willing to accept new writers due to the high risks involved. Publishers are so overwhelmed that even if there is a gem sitting right in front of them it's hard to spot it due to the high numbers of writers out there. Self publishing also gives me a greater level of freedom and control over the content in my book.

Also, electronic books are becoming more and more popular through the rise of Kindles, Nooks, iPads and other eReading devices. Traditional publishing companies may not pursue these more modern methods of publishing as they are mostly concerned with movie deals and getting their books into stores. I am also interested in these things as well  but they are not my ultimate goals. I just wish to share my story with as many people as possible and I think I can best do that through self publishing.

My name is Matthew Price and I am 18 years old. This is my first book and hopefully my first publication. I realize this makes me a lot younger than most beginning authors, but I am hoping you'll give me a chance and help fund my book. Im not asking for a pure donation, if you're unsure about my writing ability, I can email you a chapter from the story. While I hope to reach my funding goal, if I exceed it I will put the extra money back into my book and I will be able to afford things such as a hardcover edition, image insertions, and a talented cover artist as well as extra perks and rewards for those who back my project (most likely in the form of a hardcover version, and/or exclusive artwork).

Risks and challenges

The only risk is that I may not be able to publish my novel in the amount of time I am currently expecting, which will mean that those who are recieving rewards for their donations will have to wait (the amount of time they will have to wait will vary based upon when the book is released).
