Who are The Translators?
The Translators began when my good friend Ethan, and I (Darren), started playing guitar and writing songs together way back in high school! At that time we played mostly covers and put on a couple house concerts for our friends. Over time, and through some hard work, our own songs developed into something we were proud to play for our friends and family.
In the last few years we have been blessed that our friends Kevin, Danelle, and Eric have joined us to fully bring to life the songs that we have worked so hard on. During this time the songs have really begun to flourish and we are happy with the sound that The Translators has developed!
We have had the pleasure of playing many of these songs for some of you at various concerts in Edmonton and in Vancouver! Playing live engergizes us and is one of our favourite things to do...BUT...We have never recorded a full album!
What is our goal?
Our goal is to record a full length album in the next year! We would like to capture some of the magic of these songs and give you guys the opportunity to listen to us at home, in the car, or even in the shower!
We have fully funded and recorded our first song, Bandit Love, which will go on the full album when it is finished. You can listen to it in the featured video above or in the SoundCloud link at the bottom of the page. We are working with producer Jonathan Anderson of Protection Island Studios in Maple Ridge to create a beautiful and professionally produced album that we hope will both capture our live sound and highlight our song-writing! Working on Bandit Love with Jonathan has only affirmed our desire to record a full album with 9-10 songs on it.
What do we need?
We have funded the first song ourselves but we need your help to cover the costs of a full album! We have launched this crowd-funding campaign to help us meet our goal of a recorded album. Your generous contribution would be used to pay for album recording and mixing time and the CD packaging.
Whoa! $9,000?! That sounds pretty extravagant you might say...but this is the absolute minimum we need in order to make a great CD on our limited budget. Here is what we will be using the funds for.
What's in it for you?
In exchange for your contribution we would like to offer you a bunch of great rewards available through this campaign! You can get a digital copy of the album, a hard copy, a t-shirt, your name in the credits, a full-on house concert and a bunch of other cool stuff! Look at the right side of the page to pick the reward that works best for you!
Besides contributing to this album financially there are other ways to help us! One way to help is by sharing this Kickstarter campaign on social media, or emailing the link to friends or to family, we would really appreciate it! We hope that you will be involved in the process every step of the way, so please stay tuned for updates throughout the campaign.
What happens if we don't reach our goal?
If we are even ONE DOLLAR short of our goal on this campaign then we won’t get anything! (In this case you won't be charged for your pledge.) This means that we won't be able to record the album and we will be very sad! Please help us to make this dream a reality, we love you all and thank you in advance for your generosity! No matter what, we have appreciated everyone’s support and encouragement over the past few years!
What happens when we reach our goal?
Woohoo! We will be so unimaginably pleased! Any funds raised over our goal will be put towards more songs on the album and a bit more time in the studio to fine-tune everything. We have budgeted for 9-10 songs, but would love to have 11-12 if possible! We would also like to pay our graphic artists more for the album/t-shirt design!
***Big Thanks go out to my brother Liam Binnema for filming and editing our Kickstarter Video, he did an amazing job!***
Risks and challenges
This album is very important to us and we will be attempting to finish it in a very timely manner. However the timeline for this project will depend on musician/studio availability as well physical album production. We are confident that with the funds received through this campaign and through personal investment we can deliver a product that we will be proud of, and that you, as a backer, will appreciate. While we have thought through all possible outcomes of this project, life is unpredictable! We will try our very best to overcome all obstacles that may arise. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at email@example.com if you have any questions at all! Thanks!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
