Circa lets you see the world in a new way. With the cutting edge technology we developed, anyone can place any digital image in perspective with reality, for others to view with their own mobile devices when they visit that spot. We call this ghosting. Check out the video to learn more about ghosting.
Circa will allow users to ghost images and share the location of the ghosted image over social media. Then, anyone can walk around town and see the ghosted images with their mobile devices in an augmented reality viewer. Circa App will filter images you want to see. Circa App will provide navigation for walkers and cyclists and visual cues to get to the images and see them to scale and in context.
Circa Mobile LLC has developed patent pending technology that recognizes the view in front of you and loads media based on where you point your iOS Device. What’s revolutionary about this? Before you needed a QR Code or similar pattern, with Circa all you need is the world around you.
Check out the Update Video to see all the awesome ways we've been having fun with the Circa App. We ghosted Banksy artwork where it had been defaced in Westwood, LA. Watch what the spray cop does to beach goers in Venice! You can ghost images too if we reach our goal on Kickstarter.
We are so awash in images online, it's time to release them back into the world. It's amazing to see the impact viewing a photo in context has when you experience it in person!
There are millions of photos added to Facebook each second of every day. Is good photography getting lost in a mess of mundane portraits and pictures of food? We can be more creative our smartphone cameras. It’s time to experience photos in a new way. Circa is the evolution of images.
We envision a world where people ghost their most meaningful images to the locations they were taken, creating a new meaning for both the image and the space. This is the next step for the display of digital images. It wasn't possible until recent developments in pattern recognition and we need your help to be the first app to make it a reality.
Be the first to leave your mark on the world by ghosting images around your town using an iOS device. A skateboarder can ghost a photo performing a trick and leave it for others to challenge them to pull off something better. Architects & Urban Planners can ghost future plans on site so the public can see their vision. Graffiti artists could tag walls without destroying property. The possibilities are endless and Kickstarters, you can make it reality!
With a tremendous Kickstart, we will have the available funds to develop for multiple phones and new ways of ghosting audio, videos, 3D models, and even be able to work with artists and developers to realize augmented reality games. We may even be able to develop a version of Circa for Android devices with your help.
If you support us Kickstarters, you'll be the first group invited to ghost images in your hometown well before we release Circa on the App Store! You could start your own creative project using Circa and paint the town red with your own images.
We need at least $85,000 to kickstart development so we can take the prototype you've seen in the video and make it into an app that can be released on the App Store. We've put up a lot of our own funds get it this far and need your Kickstart to bring the app to market. Software development isn't cheap and this is groundbreaking technology we are delivering.
We want to do it right and provide a meaningful experience so everyone can realize the value of Circa. That's why we partnered with Regard, a world class development firm with previous success. Circa is developed using the Metaio SDK, a revolutionary new augmented reality toolset that we’ve enhanced with our own patent pending technology. We’ve also been working with local artists and organizations in Los Angeles to produce high quality content for Circa at launch.
Circa App connects people with history. Historical photos can be viewed in context at the places they were taken, allowing members of the community to appreciate their history in a new way. Circa Mobile LLC is excited to be announce our partnership with Historical Societies in Los Angeles to return archived photos to their origins. Participating organizations include The Los Angeles Public Library, Redondo Beach Historical Museum, Hermosa Beach Historical Society, Manhattan Beach Historical Society, Redondo Beach ELKS, and USC Digital Library. Using Circa App we will "ghost" over 300 historical photographs in augmented reality along the coast later this year.
Circa is working with the following organizations to ghost over 300 combines historical photos around Los Angeles:
Los Angeles Public Library
USC Digital Libray
The Redondo Beach ELKS (Est. 1902)
The City of Redondo Beach & Historical Commission (Incorporated 1892)
The Redondo Beach Historical Society
The Hermosa Beach Historical Society (Inc. 1906)
The Manhattan Beach Historical Society (Inc. 1912)
Robi Hutas (Photographing the region since 1960)
If you aren't in LA when we launch the project, you’ll be invited to install the Circa Beta on your iOS device. With just a $20 donation, you can create the same world in your hometown just like we are here.
With a tremendous kickstart we can include media beyond images for ghosting in the Circa App like audio, games, video, animation and more! Send along your suggestions! We are eager to work with you to develop new creative experiences on iOS devices.
Curtis and Mark are the founders of Circa. Long time friends since arriving in Los Angeles more than 10 years ago, they met while working together in Telecommunication Industry during the tech boom.
Mark pursued education and experience as an entrepreneur. Having worked in telecom as a Fiber Optics expert and experiencing the telecom bust, he returned to school at USC to attain his MBA rounding out his engineering education from Renssealer. He has kept his ear close to the ground searching for purpose and found it with Circa. Mark came up with the idea for Circa less than a year ago and remains a passionate leader who wants to help others gain a better understanding of their community through this new app.
Curtis has left the world of telecom for pursuing a career in the healing arts. He remains vital to the company through his enthusiasm for connecting people with their surroundings and renewed interest in connecting people through technology.
