I have two paintings by creator David Thomas that were made to be featured in our 'jam-piece' Stereorodeo (which can be seen in issue #5 and will be included in the print collection). I'll be giving these away via a random draw at the end of the campaign. All you have to do is pledge at the Bookplate/sketchcard reward tier and above (physical rewards only).
***NEW REWARD TIER ADDED! - (£20+postage)***
This is a poetic/art reward by writer/creator David Thomas called 'Pocket full of Posises'. It's a ‘scientific poem’ which is a result of the writers interpretation of Near Death Experience Research. It has been 4 years in the making. David has chosen this Kickstarter campaign to share it. The poem itself is printed upon an A4 sheet of tracing paper, folded down to fit inside a presentation box (4"x4") that has been painted by the David himself. Only 6 of these will be made. The whole piece is a meditation upon existence and what lays beyond the barrier of mortality. Obviously this includes the book, digital copy and thank you rewards too. Only available for UK delivery, may reconsider upon request.
Sliced Quarterly Vol. #2 will collect issues #5-8 of the experimental comic anthology that has been published for the last year digitally. The book will include over 140 full colour pages perfect bound into a trade paperback format.
Sliced Quarterly is a playground for creators to experiment with the comic book narrative. We aim to showcase simple, authentic, literary stories told in extraordinary ways. Creators are invited to test the traditional norms of the medium, and in so doing, elevate how they connect and communicate with the reader. Each issue displays the value of sequential narrative art in its ability to be insightful, emotive and provocative.
HOW the story is told is as important as WHAT it’s about.
All of our issues to date can be read and downloaded for free on our website, so you really can try before you buy, however the book will also include bonus material not available in the website editions. Previews of the bonus comics will be released during the campaign - www.slicedquarterly.co.uk
You can see all of our Press coverage links (reviews & interviews) HERE.

I’ve given careful thought to producing rewards that will give added value to buyers, without the cost of those rewards inflating the target to an extent that the main point of the campaign is lost. In short, the print run is the big deal, these extra rewards are a bonus.
Digital Copy for £1
140+ pages of experimental comics for 100 pence. This is the easiest way to show your support for this book and get all of the content onto your devices in the form of a pdf.
Sliced is a community project and this is one way to try and spread it around and get as many eyes on the great work of our contributors as possible.
Instead of offering a curated digital comic bundle this time around we have partnered with Comichaus to give you the biggest possible value reward for your money. If digital comics are your thing this is going to be a huge eye opener. For £3 you will get a month to access to the entire indie comic archive via the Comichaus app. There are hundreds of titles waiting for you to try out. A numbered run of 50 bookplates, specific to this Kickstarter Campaign. Each one will be signed by Ken Reynolds (Editor), and feature a sketch from one of the following contributing artists: Jonathan Scott, B.P. Johnson, Gareth A. Hopkins, Rosa Devine, Ken Reynolds & Tara Lucy.
The cards will be randomly distributed.
'Nesting Doll Art Commissions' by Ken Reynolds . Choose three characters, portraits, abstracts or hobbies to be represented as the dolls. A5 ink and colour markers on bristol board.
Ken Reynolds (editor of Sliced Quarterly) will read and provide written overview feedback, on your single issue comic book script or 2 short story scripts. Notes can include plot, pacing, imagery and dialogue. Basically, if you'd like a second pair of eyes to vet your work before making an investment in art this might be for you. This offer is for a single pass review with no further revisions considered.
“I’ve been lucky enough to receive feedback from Ken on a couple of scripts, and on each occasion his insight into how to improve the flow of the story and into how to distill what I’m trying to say in the story (even when I’m unsure myself) has been invaluable.” - Martin Feekins ('The Mighty Mykflex' and 'Meat' 2000AD Future Shocks)
"Ken has acted as Assistant Editor for 100% Biodegradable for almost two years. His insightful feedback on the submissions sent our way has turned many a potential rejection into an acceptance; he has a gift for salvaging scripts, and putting a new spin on old ideas. And thank goodness for his lettering skills! Without them, I'd have to letter everything with my crayons, and nobody wants that." - David Hailwood (Editor, 100% Biodegradable)
Ken will letter your comic short story or a full issue in a deal that works out to a reduction on his usual page rate. You can see samples of his previous work HERE - Or just give the 4 issues of Sliced a read, most of the lettering was completed by him.
"I’ve worked with Ken on a number of self-published and published projects, and on each, his lettering and design has added a whole new dimension to the stories. His approach is insightful, professional and honest, which makes him a pleasure to work with." - Chris Sides (Markosia, Alterna Comics, Sliced Quarterly, 100% Biodegradable
Here's a nice info-graphic that lays out the reward tiers...
Risks and challenges
The risks are minimal on this project. The content of the book is ready to go to print. All rewards and Kickstarter exclusives will go into production as soon as the campaign ends.
I hope to be able to fulfill all rewards within 8 weeks after a successful campaign. I have geared all the work involved in creating and delivering the rewards towards the skill-set, experience and contacts I have gained through working in the design industry for over 12 years.
If there are any unforeseen problems, I will be transparent and upfront about it, while keeping all backers updated as I solve them.
I have 5 successful campaigns behind me over the last 2 years and I feel totally confident that I’ll be able to deliver on all of the promises set out above.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
