About this project
The purpose of this project is make sure I'm posting good robot part and kit files available FREE for downloading to help move the "Robot Revolution" forward a little bit faster ... and hopefully, more artfully too.
I've held off posting the part files for the SAIR and DAIR robots because I need to confirm that all the parts do fit correctly so I can post the files with full confidence the FREE downloaded part files build a working robot kit.
The SAIR & DAIR robots design is based on typical packing, sorting and shifting ... industrial robots but these are about 60cm tall (2' tall) and are home hobbyist versions.
Both the SAIR & DAIR robots are designed to use standard hobby servo motors. It is the builders choice to select the servos to be used in their robot. I set the weakest point on the upper arm so that if the robot attempts to lift something beyond the normal strength of the other parts the easiest part to replace is what breaks ... that small plastic tube arm piece.
As I am a big fan of the PP3DP UP! printer I have been designing parts for that printer but these part files can also be printed on almost any 3D Plastic Printer (e.g., MakerBot, Thing-o-Matic, Mandel etc...) Having my own 3D Plastic Printer allows me to better learn to design for the 3D Plastic Printers and to make more 3D Plastic part files available on my website.
