NOTE: The footage in the Kickstarter video is not representative of the film itself. THE ACTUAL FILM HAS NOT BEEN MADE YET.
Let's take a journey.
What is it really like to be an airline pilot? How about a pilot who flies small propeller-driven aircraft? A WWII veteran? A military pilot? A student pilot? What's it like to fly?
I always thought these things as a kid. Now, as an 18-year-old pilot and independent filmmaker, I've decided it's time to find a way to show people the answers to these questions. So why not make a film about it?
A cinematic masterpiece...
Based on locations in and around Sonoma County and Northern California, this film will explore the smaller, more connected world of local airports as well as the bigger picture of aviation... all with beautiful cinematic quality and editing, which sets this film apart from others.
Wait so... what's it all about?
So what exactly is For the Love of Flight? It is a documentary about....well, general aviation. Although it's such a broad subject, it will cover everything you want to know about aviation by exploring the lives of several pilots, including me, the private pilot who is still a senior in high school. Find out what it's like to be a student pilot, private pilot, airline pilot, military, etc. all through the eyes of the people who are in those positions. Discover the realities of aviation, the different career paths available, and the joy it brings to those who have experienced it. If you've ever had dreams of flight or becoming a pilot, this is the film for you. And even if you're already a pilot, I guarantee you'll fall in love with this film.
How long will it be?
With the content I plan on having in the documentary so far, it should be at least one hour long. If not, it will probably be longer. There's a ton of subject matter to cover and it could end up making the film a little bit longer! But for now, I'm estimating about an hour's length.
What's the point of making this film?
The goal of this documentary is to hopefully get anyone interested in aviation involved with it. And even though this is mainly a film about flying, it will show other amazing careers and opportunities that aviation presents to you.
Where will all of this be taking place?
One of the most beautiful places in the world - especially for flying. This film will take place in Northern California, Nevada/Lake Tahoe, and throughout different cities and areas, but most of it will be in Sonoma County... AKA "Wine Country." The scenery and weather here are perfect for flying and filming!
(note: Southern California is a possible filming location, see OVERFUNDING section for more details)
The team working on this project with me is not one that is new to the world of cinematography and film. They take pride in their work and have been doing it for years. They helped with the filming of "The World Above" and recently finished a short film called "Three-O-Seven". Check it out here, and see why this film will be so amazing.

What will the money be spent on?
If you watched the video, it is explained how the donations will be used, but if you need clarification, here's a little pie chart!
If this project happens to be overfunded by $700 or more, it will expand the filming locations and interviews to Southern California, and all the money will go towards the costs of production to create a film worth watching again and again. Don't stop donating if we've already reached our goal!!! You can make the film better!
Risks and challenges
So far, the only risks and challenges to me are small things that can be easily overcome. Equipment malfunctions are already covered. As long as there's no apocalypse or major government shutdown, we're good. There could be slight delays to to weather and aircraft maintenance when it comes to filming, but it will not be enough to delay the overall date that the film is finished or when rewards will be delivered. I do not anticipate any other problems for this film.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
