Hello everyone! My name is Jared Thatcher and I am the co-owner and operator of Queen City Knives. The other owner (and my better half), Kylee does most of our woodworking and carving. I make hand-made knives for chefs, home cooks, and outdoorsmen from re-purposed steel. We have been doing this for 2 years now out of our very small workshop and have decided we would like to expand.
Two years ago, I found that I did not own a quality knife to take with me into the woods. After an exhaustive search online, I also found that I could not afford a custom knife to take with me into the woods. After a few Youtube videos and countless Google searches, I set out to make my own.
Two years later we have shipped our custom knives all over the world and continue to challenge ourselves by making other kitchen type utensils.
The heart and soul of our operation is our love for re-purposed steel. There is nothing in the world like taking 50 year old rusty sawmill blade or file, and turning it into a beautiful kitchen knife, to be used for the next 50 years. We waste enough as it is, so why not turn something of "old world quality" back into something of quality?
Now, why the Kickstarter? Well, to continue to make quality products, our shop needs a few upgrades. One of them being a larger heat treat kiln so we can process more knives at one time. We would also like to add another grinder to the shop to aid in production. Even though each knife will be a bit different from the others, we still want them to have the same performance and specifications as the others that leave our shop.
Thank you for your support and please share with someone you think would love our hand crafted wares!

The "hammered" finish at the top is intentionally left from the old saw mill blades patina. These handles are examples of our custom work, but the bottom one shows the Desert Ironwood that is included on our reward knives (excluding the turquoise).

Risks and challenges
Time. Time is the biggest risk. We do not want to take too long in delivering the rewards once it has been funded. We will address this by ONLY working on the rewards from this campaign once it's funded, until every one of our backers has a beautiful, hand crafted product sitting on their doorstep.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
