Hello. We are Closet Organ, and we make grungey rock music that everyone pretends to hate but secretly loves. We've brought you classics such as 'Stuck in Democracy', 'Rock! Neanderthal', and who could forget 'A mouldy sandwich is not the ideal meal for a man who has lost his wife or appetite'.
It is every young band's dream to record a full-length album, and despite having been making music together since we were about 13, this is something that we have never managed to do... and we aren't all that young any more. Having recently got back together, and added Lee Jones to the lineup on second guitar, the time has come to do something about it.. We have already recorded 3 tracks, and released the single 'Paul is Dead' for free on BandCamp, and now we want to record more.
Have a listen to Paul is Dead below:
Rather than just record an album and then release it solely online, we want to do something a bit special given how long we have been waiting to do this. We want to do a limited run of cassette tapes, and a one-off, extremely limited run of the LP on Vinyl. The album will be called 'Pished & Fabulous', unless somebody donates £100+, in which case the choice will be theirs.
Whatever happens, we will be aiming to record a full-length album this year, but the high cost of vinyl production (even for small quantities) means that it will be impossible to achieve that part without some idea that people will be interested.
So, think of this as an exclusive pre-order sort of deal. For £30 (including postage) you help us record the album, and get an extremely limited edition, hand-numbered LP with some other bits and pieces - as well as a guestlist to our Glasgow album launch party. If you don't have a record player, you can always get a cassette, or digital copy instead. Cassettes are cool.
Should we end up smashing through our target, we'll look into some other 'stretch goals' like getting some t-shirts made.
Risks and challenges
There are a number of risks involved in a project like this, but we are more than prepared to tackle the challenges head on. We all have a fair amount of experience in seeing things through to completion.
1. Haigie could die in an unfortunate accident before completion, or possibly be murdered by one of the other band members. Should that happen, we would struggle through the tears to finish the project anyway, and Lee would play bass.
2. We could do a terrible job of mastering for vinyl and they could suck. This is a bit of a risk, but we will get expert help for this part, which minimises it. You shouldn't expect anything too high fidelity anyway. This IS Closet Organ after all.
3. We might not record enough songs in time and the project will be pushed back slightly. This shouldn't be an issue, but you never know. Either way, the project will be happening.
4. The biggest risk would be that our supplier would fall through, and the cost to produce the vinyls would increase exponentially. If that happened, we would investigate alternative funding sources to bridge the gap.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
