About this project
Ampersands In the Press...
Our business started from the idea that together we can truly do what we love: Design & Build. Our first collection of wool & wood cases protect what's inside while keeping a simple aesthetic that compliments the products they hold. By using local suppliers, sustainable materials, and by making our products right here in the USA, we are doing our best to bring American craftsmanship back to its roots.
Combining industrial grade wool and aircraft grade wood creates a unique product that not only looks good but functions well. Wool is a time-tested, ecologically friendly material that can withstand the elements. The wood is lined with eco.friendly cork for an added layer of cushion and protection while the molding process of the wood creates rigidity and strength. This line of cases is a mixture of hard and soft goods at the intersection of industrial design and fashion.
We are currently making production quality goods one at time using laborious techniques. We need to purchase the proper molds and tools in order to offer our products in larger quantities and in a fair time frame. One of our biggest expenses will be renting a space to set up a proper production line. With the funds from Kickstarter, you can help us get off the ground and get our products out to the world! We also want to expand our business and create products such as luggage, bicycle accessories, and furniture. This is how we see our future & this is where your help comes in...
If you help us exceed our goal, we will be able to make our own wool from local sheep, set up a bigger production line, and create JOBS in a small, American town. We have big plans for a big future...

2. When will I get my Reward?
We've set the estimated delivery date for each pledge category. This is our best calculated estimate, but it does depend on your participation. So, the earlier we get fully funded, the earlier we can start creating and shipping your order.
3. Is there anyway to get my Reward in time for the Holidays?
Due to a tight time frame, we cannot guarantee your Reward to be delivered in time for the Holidays. However, we do foresee that we could meet this goal if we have an overwhelming backing. The earlier our goal is reached, the sooner you will get your reward. Also, we will be shipping the rewards based on the order we receive them. So your best bet is to purchase the Reward as soon as you can. As soon as we are 100% funded, we will mail out the Thank You Postcards [with the Item ordered printed on them to act as placeholders until your reward is received or given as a gift]

Risks and challenges
The production process:
We are currently making every cut by hand and molding the materials on wooden molds made at home with our own tools. The kickstarter funds will allow us to utilize more effective and efficient modes of production. This way we can create your products in house much more effectively. While our Industrial design education and experience have prepared us for this, we have sought out specific professionals to guide us.
Die cutting and molding: We have sent detailed drafting packages to our mold and die-cutting suppliers to ensure the correct tools will be made under our time constraints. We are familiar with the process and machinery having both been exposed to the mass production industry. But we still have the passion to make your goods by hand. We've also been counseled by seasoned professionals to help us set up and trouble shoot the equipment.
Suppliers: We started by gathering samples from each of our suppliers to ensure they meet our needs. Then we sourced our materials through multiple suppliers to make sure they can produce and deliver our orders in the quantity we have projected within our time constraints.
Prototyping: Because we are making production quality products by hand and not just non-functioning models, we have spent countless hours troubleshooting and refining the design as well as the production. We understand the properties and limits of each material and have put them through stringent testing.
Deadlines: We have not only calculated the amount of time it will take us to make each product, we have mapped out the most efficient means of doing this. We know that many of our customers will want their products in time for the Holiday but we also know our limits. The sooner our goal is exceeded, the sooner the products will reach your doorstep. If our budget is exceeded, we will be able to hire an already chosen employee with design and production background experience.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
