About this project
Two versions of the ABGO are available.
ABGO Mini Speedster
The Mini Speedster was designed for indoor use or on any hard smooth surface. Riding it takes some skill which can take time to acquire. While some possess the skill the first time they step on the Mini Speedster, most people take about an hour to get used to it's size. The trick is to stay low and go fast! Think speed skater.
The ABGO comes with a set of wheels about 1 inch in diameter, but larger skateboard wheels are also available. The smaller wheels are for use indoors and outdoors on surfaces that are relatively smooth. For rough surfaces, the skateboard wheels can be attached in less than a minute. The larger wheels come in a small tote bag that is about half the size of an average water bottle. The ABGO does take some practice to get used to it's small size. It has been our experience that some take off on it right away while others take an hour or more of practice before they ride it comfortably.
Both the Mini Speedster and ABGO will support over 500lbs
We are not new to taking products into full production. Here in Oklahoma City, we have worked with machine shops that are fully capable of manufacturing the ABGO and Mini Speedster. We need help from the Kickstarter community for tooling up. It is our intent to do most of the manufacturing in Oklahoma, but some parts, such as the bearings, will need to be outsourced.
$81 Early-Bird Special: ABGO, Big Wheels, Mini Speedster, Grip Top, T-Shirt of your choice (see designs below). $45 Savings!
$94 Early-Bird Special: Everything above plus a Set of Replacement Wheels for the Mini Speedster $45 Savings!
$37 The Mini Speedster - well made with precision cut steel parts. Comfortably carry the Speedster in your pocket.
$45 ABGO Mini Speedster with the Mini Speedster Grip Top. Most ABGO riders have indicated that they prefer the Grip Top.
$48 The ABGO - comes with a set of small wheels (about 1 inch diameter)
$57 ABGO Mini Speedster, Grip Top, Set of Mini Speedster Replacement Wheels. Mini Speedster wheels wear at about the same rate as normal skateboard wheels. It has been our experience that they last for a very long time, but like skateboard wheels, their longevity depends on the amount of use and type of surfaces they used on.
$64 ABGO with "Big Wheels" Skateboard wheels that can be attached to the ABGO in less than a minute. Perfect for just about any surface and with the accompanying tote bag half the size of a water bottle, these wheels are easy to keep in your backpack.
$85 ABGO & ABGO Mini Speedster
$93 ABGO with the Mini Speedster and Grip Top for the Speedster
$101 ABGO with "Big Wheels" and the Mini Speedster
$108 ABGO with "Big Wheels" and the Mini Speedster with the Grip Top
$121 Everything - ABGO with "Big Wheels" and the Mini Speedster with the Grip Top and a Set of Mini Speedster Replacement Wheels.

Risks and challenges
The ABGOs are fairly simple projects for machine shops. With CnC lathes, mills and laser cutters, it's just a matter of "tooling up." The designs are complete and the shops are ready to go. If there is a risk involved, it will be in coordinating production between different shops, but we are very good at this. We have taken other products through the process of manufacturing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
In the unit that you see here, the ABGO smaller “standard wheels” (white wheels) use two bearings in each wheel. They are R4-2rs bearings. HOWEVER, when going into full production, we may go with standard 608Z skateboard bearings for the smaller “standard wheels” when CnC machining is used. We are leaning that way.The "Big Wheels" are standard skateboard wheels with 608Z bearings. To install the larger skateboard wheels, the standard wheel axles are replaced with longer axles to accommodate the larger wheel width. It takes just a few seconds to remove the shorter axles and insert the longer axles. The Big Wheel kit comes with everything needed including the two longer axles. Everything fits in the small Big Wheels tote bag. The Mini Speedster uses 687zz bearings.
Both the $81 and $94 offers include the ABGO with the standard, smaller white wheels AND the Big Wheels (standard skateboard wheels).
Good question... There are two ABGOs, the Mini Speedster and the regular ABGO. The Mini Speedster has small wheels that won't do well with bumps. The Speedster was designed for use on hard, smooth floors (smooth concrete, linoleum, gym floors, etc...) The larger ABGO comes with a standard set of wheels that are about 1" in diameter that can handle small bumps. But standard skateboard wheels are also available allowing the ABGO to go where ever a skateboard can go. It takes the average person about a minute to switch the ABGO to the skateboard wheels.
No, the ABGO was made for surfaces like roads and sidewalks. The Mini Speedster requires a very smooth surface. It wouldn't work on most sidewalks. Usually, sidewalks are brushed concrete which leaves tiny grooves in the surface. That's too rough for the Mini Speedster. If you're ever in a Home Depot, you'll notice very smooth concrete on the floors. The Mini Speedster works great on that type of concrete.
