Mummy: The Curse Kickstarter has Arisen!

Just a brief note to let you folks know that our current Kickstarter campaign is live for Mummy: The Curse. Mummy occupies a special place in our releases because not only is it the first new nWoD game line in over two years, but it was developed by the same developer who created the acclaimed Mummy: The Resurrection for cWoD: C.A. Suleiman. Along with his guidance, the writing team consists of veteran WW pensmiths such as Ari Marmell and Greg Stolze. Here's a bit of of introductory text:

"Imagine being both dead and deathless at the same time. Imagine being cradled in the arms of death for years, sometimes decades on end, but all the while knowing that you will eventually not only arise again, but awaken to an unfamiliar world that mostly fears and hates you. Now imagine that your purpose, your entire existence, is bound within this cycle -- that you are chained to it for all eternity. You sleep, you wake, your serve your Judge's will in the lands of the living, and you return to the death-sleep once more. The ancient culture that empowered you is gone, lost to the sands of time... yet you endure.

In Mummy: The Curse, a Storytelling game set in the World of Darkness, you play one of these beings. Those who know they exist, from the the cultists who serve them to the dark forces arrayed against them, call them the Deathless.

We call them mummies."

Getting The Word Out About W20

Wanted to let all you folks know that the Kickstarter for the Deluxe Werewolf the Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Edition has gone live. If you are a WtA fan or have friends who are, please get the word out so everyone who wants one gets a chance to pledge- It's slated to be as beautiful as V20:

Report from the shipper is that they promise the very last books go out Thursday- the international multi-copy books. All US books and other international orders are already on their way. Why this took this long is something I have asked them to justify. My apologies for not jumping on this earlier- GenCon and personal matters kept me from really forcing info until today and all indications were that the books were going out in waves.

There are some thirty people whose addresses were rejected by the shipping software, and I'll be reaching out directly to those folks once I get the list from the shipper so we can get the correct address.

I'm also asking about tracking numbers. This is something that is on the shipper, not me, but I'd like to know what they can do here. Every step of the process of this first experiment in KSs has certainly taken longer than I have liked- but I'm also really looking forward to hearing that folks finally get theirs at last.

Here They Come!

Well, I'm back from a short vacation before GenCon and the start of the Deluxe Werewolf 20th Anniversary Edition Kickstarter and the word from the shipper is that the Deluxe V20 Companions (and the signed PoD versions, and the V20 PoDs, and the bookplate versions) have all started shipping this week. This is later, of course, than I'd hoped for but the shipper really wanted to link this project up with UPS so that they'd be able to use UPS's shipping tracking system, etc. to ensure that every backer gets their books. That negotiation took a lot longer than we wanted- and because it was a negotiation it really wasn't something that could be talked about openly. They've also tried to label the nonUS books in such a way that the various VAT taxes will be as minimal as your country will allow.

Thanks to all you great folks who have been reading the Updates and have been supportive of this very new kind of process in the collaborative making of our books. I've talked a lot about this being a new experimental process for us, so I won't rehash those thoughts here- you can wade through the other 29 Updates this project has had :) - but overall, I would like to say that our decisions have been based on creating the finest Deluxe Edition we could for our community even if that meant that (like in the shipping example above) it would take longer to ship.

And finally, here's a blog post from Justin with some of his thoughts on Kickstarters in general and ours in particular:

Thanks and enjoy your books!
