Makeshift is an original play written by Jessie Bear and developed in collaboration with actors Nell Bang-Jensen, Brian Ratcliffe and Isa St. Clair. Under the name Murmuration Theater, we have been revising and rehearsing this script for the past three years and we are ready to share it with you. The show will debut in Philadelphia's Plays & Players Upstairs from November 6-10, 2013 and will be directed by M. Craig Getting. Sets and costumes designed by Laila Swanson.
Murmuration Theater is a group of artists emerging from Swarthmore College who have been working together since 2010. Based out of New York and Philadelphia, they are dedicated to creating emotionally-rooted, character-driven work through a nontraditional process. In Makeshift, people, (real, imagined, remembered) live the painful, exuberant messiness of trying to feel OK. As they make their way through worlds real and realer, three characters and the remnants they’ve left behind impact each others’ lives permanently and completely.
Risks and challenges
Because we follow a nontraditional process and are self-producing original work, there is a small chance we may not receive enough funding to make this project happen. We are relying on your support to make Makeshift possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
