- Stephen Kalinich is a poet/lyricist who has written with P.F. Sloan, Dennis and Brian Wilson, David Marks, Jon Tiven, Alan Boyd, and many, many others. His songs have been sung by Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Carnie and Wendy Wilson, the Honeys and Al Jardine among others. The film covers his early days with the Beach Boys with interviews of Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks. The work he has done since then, which is extensive, makes up the rest of the film, including his poetry album, spoken word performances, painting and songwriting. Interviews with P.F. Sloan, Jon Tiven, Carl B. Wilson, Dan Knutson, Wendy Wilson, Paul Steel, Alan Boyd and Ralph Stevens. Working with Stephen seems to bring out the best in the musicians he writes with, which is in evidence throughout the film. This could have been a mini-series as there are so many writers and collaborators who had to be cut for length. It's importance to me is that his lyrics deliver a message of hope, love, compassion and sometimes darkness - a message I find uplifting and life-affirming. Never espousing any religious views, but embracing what is good in all faiths and exuding a spirituality that is real, and a point of view which has a powerful resonance in these times and in all times. Stevie has tapped into another voice through his completely original artwork, some of which he paints on his own, and some as collaborations with painter John Robertson and others.

Risks and challenges
We know how much we need to pay the music rights people, which is the biggest hurdle, and we have negotiated reasonable rates. Once funded, everyone will be paid, we will enter some festivals and have the DVDs made. Aside from the DVDs and Tee Shirts (which we'll order when we know sizes and numbers), all rewards are in hand and will be delivered as promised.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
