Show off your spatula skills and prove that you have what it takes to become the master of stir-fry! You must win the hearts of your customers by creating the best dishes possible before the ingredients run out. Sound too spicy? You’d better get used to the heat because it’s time to Wok on Fire!
Wok on Fire is a silly mix of dexterity and set collection. In the course of the game players use a spatula card to flip ingredients in a central pile (the Wok), choose ingredients to create a variety of combinations, and “chop” more ingredients into the wok. The game ends when the ingredient deck runs out and the player who created the most valuable combinations win the game! The game plays in about 20 minutes and provides an experience that engages families and gamers. For those looking for a quirky filler that is easy-to-learn and requires clever spatula-use without making a mess in the kitchen, look no further!
Wok on Fire is a game for 2 to 4 players, ages 10 and up and is designed by Poki Chen of the Taiwan Board Game Design Group. Chen self-published a short run of the game for the 2015 Tokyo Game Market and Green Couch Games is proud to have obtained the English language rights for the game.

"Wok on Fire! is a really tasty combo of dexterity, set collection, and a dash of memory. It's kid-friendly, but is spicy enough to share with your adult friends (as long as they don't mind a little silliness). Okay, I promise I'll quit with the food puns now. I've played Wok on Fire! with my kids and adult friends, and we all had a fun time with it.
Overall, I think Wok on Fire! is another great title for Green Couch Games, which focuses on small games with broad appeal. It's more on the casual gaming side of things, like the other Green Couch titles, so it won't satisfy your heavy-strategy itch. But for a fun game that you can break out and be silly together, it hits the spot, and the small, portable packaging is a bonus." - Jonathan Liu, GeekDad
"If you're looking for a great filler game that offers a combination of goofy gameplay and light strategy, Wok on Fire! would be a great choice. It's quick, easy to learn and teach, and a game that almost anyone can pick up." -Ken Grazier, Geek-Craft.Com
"Keeping in line with Green Couch Games’ mantra, Wok on Fire is a quick, light-hearted game that will be enjoyed by families and casual gamers alike. The varied abilities and scoring methods used for each ingredient are perfect for fans of games such as Sushi Go! who are looking to add that “next step” to their collection. I suggest you wok on over to the Kickstarter and check it out for yourself!" -Dan from League of Nonsenical Gamers
"The game plays fast, loose and fun, more than living up to that motto of Green Couch Games (Great little games that make great big connections). We’ve had a great time with this one." -Brandon Kempf, What Did You Play This Week Podcast Thing
Jason Slingerland chose Wok on Fire as his MOST ANTICIPATED GAME OF 2016! Listen here!
"My gaming group isn't big into dexterity games so Wok on Fire probably won't get much play there. But my family LOVED it! It's another great, unique way to make a card game that isn't anything like a card game! Kudos to Green Couch Games for pushing the envelope of the filler game niche!" -Jeremiah Isely, Theology of Games
"Wok on Fire is a fun, light, silly family dexterity game that accomplishes perfectly what Jason and Green Couch Games have set out to do. I love game that bring my family together!" -Scott Firestone, Theology of Games
"Wok on Fire is a good game for those of you looking for a qwirky filler to play with your gaming group or looking for a game to play with your family. This is definitely a game that even though we received a pre-release copy, we will be supporting ourselves on Kickstarter." -Ryan Sanders, The Inquisitive Meeple
"Wok on Fire! is a really nice little filler game. Portable, affordable, and really pretty to boot, Wok on Fire! is the kind of game that could easily make an appearance at any board game gathering (while waiting for takeout, preferably). It is uncomplicated and fun and never overstays its welcome." -Gameosity.com

As we get closer to our funding goal, we'll be announcing some sweet STRETCH GOALS to keep the party going. We have plans to add value to Wok On Fire that we think you will really appreciate. We plan to add value by upgrading some components and increasing replayability with added game content.
We have several stretch goals in mind and we hope to hit them all! But know that just as with our previous campaigns, we won't likely be adding more just to add more. We believe that more isn't always better, especially if it holds up production and delays delivery.
That being said, we'll be listening closely to your feedback and ideas and will carefully consider all the ideas that comes our way.
If you've checked out the videos and read the reviews and still want more info, you can check out the First Edition Rules PDF RIGHT HERE! The rules are currently being edited and reformatted for clarity and to match the updated graphic design.
The rules are hosted on BoardGameGeek and will require a free account to download. But if you like games, BGG is the place to be so head over there now to get plugged into the world-wide gaming community!
Okay, so there isn't actually a print and play version of Wok on Fire available. Making a homemade version of the game on paper or cardstock in card sleeves just doesn't cut it. We don't want to provide a version of the game that won't play as well as the real deal! You need real cards with some real snap!
But we do understand that some folks like to try the game before they buy the game. So check out this video I made of a little game called "Schlock on Fire" that uses a standard deck of playing cards. Have some fun flipping and chopping to get a feel for the basic concepts of Wok on Fire. Give it a try and come back and lend your support to the campaign!
Wok On Fire is available world-wide and all copies will ship from within the US! International Shipping fees will be added to your pledge level when you select your home location.
Added Shipping: US-Free!, Canada-$6, Everywhere Else-$15
Note: International Backers will be responsible for any import fees, brokerage or delivery surcharges, or applicable taxes that may be levied after we have shipped your package. However, this campaign is CUSTOMS FRIENDLY. The low price point and small box for this game should not cause any customs fees for backers pledging for 1-2 copies. We have learned that shipping is a costly endeavor, especially with the recent rate increase in the US Postal Service, and we must try to keep our costs as low as possible to keep our games at an appropriate price point for when they hit retail. We are saying THANK YOU to our early adopters on Kickstarter by offering the game at MSRP while covering the first $5 of shipping costs for all backers. We'll also be adding some extra content at no extra charge (when we reach STRETCH GOALS, of course).

Risks and challenges
My experience with our last campaigns, Fidelitas, Best Treehouse Ever,JurassAttack!, and Avalanche at Yeti Mountain has provided a solid foundation for me to build on. And so far I have been able to avoid delays (I'm 3 for 3 delivering projects ON TIME with the 4th being loaded onto a boat with plenty of time to spare) and common pitfalls by paying special attention to the following areas and building on previous experience:
Art and Design. The art and design for the game is nearly complete so we'll be ready to print shortly after the close of the campaign. I always like to show you I mean business by paying for the art and design upfront!
Playtesting and Reviewing. Wok on Fire has been tested by many different playtesters and even a bunch of game designers. I have sent a bunch of prototypes to a variety of reviewers. I want to earn your trust by providing you with a solid product that has been thoroughly tested and reviewed by folks from varying backgrounds and perspectives.
Past Experience. This is the fifth Kickstarter project I've run for Green Couch Games and I have helped with several other successful campaigns. Also, having spent many years working in retail and customer service, I understand the importance of treating backers with respect and following through with projects.
Of course, there are always unexpected circumstances that pop up, but I PROMISE to communicate every step of the way and do my best to use creative problem solving meet the challenges head on.
Thank you so much for giving Green Couch Games a chance. As a small company, I truly can't do this without you. I will do my best to thank you by creating great little games that you love to play.
