ALL STRETCH GOALS UNLOCKED! Scroll down for more info!

It's a race to the finish when some super-smart, yet somehow clueless, engineering students invent rocket-powered skis and decide to test them out at Yeti Mountain!

In Avalanche at Yeti Mountain, players play dual-use cards — the same cards used to make up the ski slopes of Yeti Mountain — to determine their speed in a race down the mountain. If players collectively exceed the speed limit, which is determined by the number of players, the fastest players crash only moving one space forward towards the goal. Players may also activate rocket jumps to overshoot the competition but at the expense of causing an avalanche to begin chasing them down the mountain. If that's not enough tension, rocket jumps are possible only if the Yeti, awoken from his slumber by all of the rocket-powered racket, doesn't attack and deactivate players' rocket-powered skis! The last skier standing, or the skier who makes it to the bottom of Yeti Mountain, wins the game.

Avalanche at Yeti Mountain is sticking to the Green Couch Games mantra of making "great little games that make great big connections". This small box card game appeals to a wide audience, satisfying gamers and families (and even SOLO players), creating a social experience while jockeying for the best position by managing your cards wisely.

Avalanche at Yeti Mountain is a game for 1 to 5 players, ages 10 and up and plays in about 20-30 minutes. The game is designed by Matt Wolfe, designer of Wombat Rescue from Eagle-Gryphon Games and regular contributor to The Geek All-Stars Podcast.

"I think this game is great. It's not just about the card you play but also the card your opponent plays. There were many times I tried to rocket jump hoping my opponents played low cards only to break the speed limit and crash. The Yeti allows the players further from the bottom to catch up by preventing players from rocket jumping the next turn. This helps to combat a poor start draw. The avalanche is a big equalizer too. If you and your opponents try to rocket jump a lot, you increase the avalanche speed and could end up getting crushed by it...The replay factor is really great too." -Aaron Kuzava on BoardGameGeek.com

"Green Couch Games has been publishing what it calls "great little games." They're small-box games, usually without a lot of complicated components, and are generally fairly easy to pick up and play. So far they've published Fidelitas and successfully funded two more, Best Treehouse Ever and JurassAttack, all three of which I've reviewed here on GeekDad. I think Avalanche at Yeti Mountain goes nicely with the others: it's a quick game both to learn and to play, and has a mix of luck and strategy without having so many choices that it gets bogged down." -Jonathan Liu from Geek Dad

"Avalanche at Yeti Mountain is an excellent example of an otherwise simple game neck-deep in immersive theme and engaging artwork. I am a fan of everything coming from Green Couch Games lately, and this is no exception. They are doing the best job of releasing silly, cartoony games into the world, bar none." -Daniel Zayas' First Impression on The Meeple Mechanic

"Avalanche at Yeti Mountain slides effortlessly into the stable of Green Couch Games’ numerous filler-style titles, cramming a good amount of decision making and delightful illustrations into a small package. I highly recommend you to check it out; anything else would simply be abominable." - Dan Halstad, League of Nonsensical Gamers

"Avalanche at Yeti Mountain is a fun little race! The boys and I had fun wiping each other out or trying to guess when it would be a good time to rocket jump! Green Couch Games delivers another fun filler! " -Jeremiah Isley from Theology of Games

"Avalanche at Yeti Mountain is a fast, fun race game that can go anywhere, and that anyone can play. It won't replace the meatier race games for me, but it's great for games on the go! Question: What does that yeti have in his fanny pack?" -Scott Firestone from Theology of Games

"This is another fantastic offering from Green Couch Games and designer Matt Wolfe." -Brandon Kempf from What Did You Play This Week

"I am not one for Solo Play, but Avalanche of Yeti Mountain should come with some kind of warning on the box. "Warning: Players may not be able to stop at one play of solo mode." You will immediately want to play another round... and then another round of solo play." -Ryan Sanders, The Inquisitive Meeple

We have plans to add value to Avalanche at Yeti Mountain that we think you will really appreciate. We plan to add value by upgrading components and increasing replayability with added game content.

We have several stretch goals in mind and we hope to hit them all! But know that just as with our previous campaigns, we won't likely be adding more just to add more. We believe that more isn't always better, especially if it holds up production and delays delivery.

That being said, we'll be listening closely to your feedback and ideas and will carefully consider all the ideas that comes our way.

If you've checked out the videos and read the reviews and still want more info, you can check out the Rules PDF RIGHT HERE! The rules even include advanced variants and rules for SOLO play!

The rules are hosted on BoardGameGeek and will require a free account to download. But if you like games, BGG is the place to be so head over there now to get plugged into the world-wide gaming community!

Risks and challenges

My experience with our last campaigns, Fidelitas, Best Treehouse Ever, and JurassAttack! has provided a solid foundation for me to build on. And so far I have been able to avoid delays and common pitfalls by paying special attention to the following areas and building on previous experience:

Art and Design. The art and design for the game is nearly complete so we'll be ready to print shortly after the close of the campaign. I always like to show you I mean business by paying for the art and design upfront!

Playtesting and Reviewing. Avalanche at Yeti Mountain has been tested by many different playtesters and even a bunch of game designers. I have sent a bunch of prototypes to a variety of reviewers. I want to earn your trust by providing you with a solid product that has been thoroughly tested and reviewed by folks from varying backgrounds and perspectives.

Past Experience. This is the fourth Kickstarter project I've run for Green Couch Games and I have helped with several other successful campaigns. Also, having spent many years working in retail and customer service, I understand the importance of treating backers with respect and following through with projects.

Of course, there are always unexpected circumstances that pop up, but I PROMISE to communicate every step of the way and do my best to use creative problem solving meet the challenges head on.

Thank you so much for giving Green Couch Games a chance. As a small company, I truly can't do this without you. I will do my best to thank you by creating great little games that you love to play.

Sincerely,
Jason Kotarski, founder of Green Couch Games
