F.U.B.A.R is a military themed Cards Against Humanity-style game, played as an expansion to the original game or by itself.
Despite the stunning success of the CaH project and various 3rd party expansions, no one has attempted to make a military-specific deck. Until now!Created by veterans from all branches of the military, and tested by service-members and civilians alike, we’re confident everyone will love this latest twist on the classic party card game.
In order to make this thing work we’re asking for $10,800.00.
We know that seems like a lot, but unlike many other 3rd party expansions, F.U.B.A.R. is a 385 card deck, with 100 black prompt cards and 285 white answer cards, large enough to be played on its own.
Due to the size, the minimum printer order of 500 units will cost approximately $9,850.00. The additional $950.00 will cover Kickstarter’s mandatory 5% fee and the warehouse shipping and fulfillment costs.
If the campaign really takes off (and we believe it will) we can up the size of our order and offer the games at a lower cost once the campaign is over. Everybody wins!
We’re already preparing additional expansion packs specifically for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. Following the success of the Kickstarter we plan to offer those for sale in the early spring.
The guys (and gal) at War Games LLC are also working on "America's Favorite Drinking Game", an expansion pack designed to completely change the way you play F.U.B.A.R. and get you pretty loaded in the process.
While obviously being directed toward a military audience, we deliberately designed the game to appeal to everyone (assuming they're also terrible people). After playtesting by civilians, cards that were deemed “too inside” or “too specific” were moved into the service expansion packs, so you can tailor the game to fit your audience.
1. If we make it to 20k we can add an additional 55 cards to each deck, bringing the total to 440 cards. All backers who receive a deck would get the additional cards at no extra cost.
2. If we make it to 28k we'll be able to complete and ship our 18 card "America's Drinking Game" to all backers who received a deck at no extra cost.
3. If we hit 40k we'd be able to complete and ship our first 110-card Army expansion set, free to all our $70 and higher backers. Those who donated at the $35 tier would receive a discount code for future purchase.
We’ll be producing our first run of cards with the awesome folks at Printninja.com. For our Kickstarter they’re also giving us an additional 5% of our total deck order completely free, which we’re going to add to the pile of games we’re donating to USOs and veterans hospitals around the world!
We’re very excited about the project, and with your help we can make this awesome game a reality.
Risks and challenges
As with any project, there are risks and challenges.
For us a big risk is the market appeal for this game. As avid Cards Against Humanity players, we’ve noticed the complete lack of military-themed cards, or a similar expansion. Despite the flood of 3rd party games on the market, that niche is still unfilled. CaH is loved almost universally by younger members of the Armed Forces, and we think F.U.B.A.R. can offer something that has been missing from the experience. By focusing on military themes we hope to reach millions of potential players through active duty military, veterans, and their families,
Challenges include getting the word out about our project. War Games LLC was founded by Duffel Blog authors, a popular military satire website with an estimated reach of almost two million readers across the military and civilian sectors. Using our professional and personal connections, we believe the game will have sufficient exposure through a combination of advertising, word of mouth, and social media campaigning. We also plan on giving free copies of the game to USOs (United States Overseas) around the world in both airports and deployed environments for transiting military personnel to enjoy, further spreading awareness about the game.
Another major challenge is keeping this product viable beyond the fundraising campaign. Using our current model for sales, a successful Kickstarter reaching the goal we’ve set will allow our company to print enough decks to ensure growth for the rest of the fiscal year, and allow us to begin our first run of expansion pack printing in the spring. If we can reach that point we’ll be able to expand to the other services and really make F.U.B.A.R. stand out from the competition.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
