We will be publishing a print issue of inter|rupture, a sort of anthology, selecting poems from the first two years, issues 1-7.

inter|rupture started as an online journal, but we would like to print an anthology issue. We are raising money to publish a selection of poems from our first 7 issues. We will sell this artfully crafted edition of the journal at AWP Boston in March of 2013.

inter|rupture: a journal of poetry and art was founded in October of 2010, with the first issue launching in February 2011. We have published 6 issues since, with our 7th coming out in February 2013, and have featured such established poets as Peter Jay Shippy, Noelle Kocot, Dean Young, Bob Hicok, Traci Brimhall, John Gallaher, Mary Biddinger, Ray Gonzalez, and many others. We've also featured some of the best emerging poets, like Wendy Xu, Nick Sturm, Gale Marie Thompson, Brad Liening, Angela Veronica Wong, Gregory Sherl, Brooklyn Copeland, plus a whole lot more. The art we've featured in the journal is equally diverse, as we have featured a variety of mediums and styles by artists from around the world, including Cuba, Australia, Brazil, Ohio, Massachusetts, and Colorado.

inter|rupture has always been online, but we would love to venture into the print world by compiling a list of about 30-40 poems from the first two years in a print anthology. So far, all of our marketing has been by word of mouth, but we plan on expanding that at the AWP 2013 conference in Boston. With this Kickstarter we will not only be able to afford to share a table at the conference with our friends iO: A Journal of New American Poetry, but have a printed object to sell. Printing a journal is neither easy, nor cheap. And since we at inter|rupture use our own money to fund the journal, we would really love some support from our readers and contributors to get this essential project going. Whatever leftover funds from this project there may be, we will use it to cover the cost of website and hosting fees in order to keep inter|rupture alive, free of charge.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

One of the main challenges of our project will be making sure the book comes out the way we want it. Since we don't have a publisher to go to, since we have never printed an issue, we are unfamiliar with the territory and unsure what the outcome will be. We worry about font, and whether or not we can fit 30-40 poems in one issue. We may have to decrease the amount of pages, and therefor the amount of poems we publish. We also risk printing around 100-125 copies but not being able to sell them. Whatever we aren't able to sell at the conference may just end up in boxes til next year as we don't have a method of payment on our website. We might have to look into starting an etsy account, or some other avenue for sales of the book.
