What is Night of the Blood Moon
Night of the Blood Moon is a difficult Rogue-like where you play as a weaponized nightmare beating up the cute creatures of our dreams! Use unique weapons to demolish the loving manifestations around you as you grow with power. Conquer many imaginative lands, and defeat bosses who will challenge your strategy along side your skill.

The Setting of Night of the Blood Moon
While we sleep, cute dream monsters fill the dream realm to bring our minds happy thoughts, but during nights with a blood moon our nightmares are at their strongest. Night of the Blood Moon lets you play as a nightmare beating up cute, fluffy, lovable creatures.
No longer do you have to play as a hero beating up skeletons! Now you can beat up all those fluffy things which have infuriated you with their cuteness for too long!
This was truly why I decided the setting...
Currently there are 5 unlockable weapons implemented, and more incoming. These tools are what make Night of the Blood Moon so enjoyable for us. They all require interesting and different types of positioning and movement. At all times The Three Eyed Crow can also dodge and slash.
The Boomerang will let you set up knockback both outgoing and incoming, allowing for maximum damage. You can bounce it off walls, but sometimes you might drop it if you're not careful.
The Hookshot will let you grapple onto enemies. "GET OVER HERE". Or alternatively act like a Zelda game as you grab onto walls and pull yourself to safety, or if you're bloodthirsty, combat. With the combination of your dodge and slash this is the ultimate form of mobility.
Poisoning an enemy will cause a damage over time effect which is spreadable to other enemies, and you. This is a great way to take care of clustered enemies, but watch out for enemies who are close range.
The Bombs bounce off walls and explode on impact with you and the dream creatures. This is great for high damage, and a one hit kill on many enemies, but if you misplace your throw it could come back to haunt you!
The Crossbow feathers are my take on most weapons in the modern Rogue / Bullet Hell. This will be one of the beginning and unlocked weapons due to the common feel to other games.
Ammo in Night of the Blood Moon is restored with killing. After playing DOOM 2016, I loved the dance we perform while weaving between monsters, and using melee mechanics to restore health. This game kept you in the action, instead of asking the player to run and hide while health recovers. I have done the same with ammo. Running out of ammo does not mean retreat, but instead forces you to position yourself perfectly for your melee strikes.
Enemies in Night of the Blood Moon work on an orthogonal structure. This means they vary with speed and range on a full spectrum. I have used this design to create levels which each bring their own challenges. While all will test your skills each will do it in it's own unique way. The water level will definitely be a challenge while the bullet bubbles overwhelm your screen. Alternatively, The Jungle Level will keep your hands shaking from all the enemies charging you, or hiding from you in the bushes. I know I haven't gotten bored of Night of the Blood Moon yet, and I don't think you will either.
Bosses in Night of the Blood Moon are going to be more than just bullet sponges. The common bullet sponge boss bothers me in games, and I'd like to provide some alternatives to our games. Bosses will have mechanics which can be overcome through trial, error, and understanding. I take inspiration from some MMO's who's bosses weaknesses come from mechanics, and not hp.
Pets! Some of the critters will have unique functions in order to unlock them as pets each round. They'll serve unique tasks for you. Pets are always displayed in a blue version of the creatures... Everyone loves pets.
Why Kickstart Night of the Blood Moon
Audio: Your choice to back Night of the Blood Moon will be what dictates and quality of the audio. I am proud of my programming and art abilities, but sound design is a new format to me. Though I am enjoying recording these sound effects, I know there are many who can do better.
There are many musicians who would be perfectly fitting for Night of the Blood Moon, but right now I will be making the music. We can do better... Kickstarting Night of the Blood Moon will allow me to find a wonderful and talented artist to pump up the jams in the destruction filled dream land.
Platforms: Due to licensing, I can currently only afford to get Night of the Blood Moon on Steam PC/Mac/Linux PC. Though Linux may have a slightly delayed launch to make sure things are working correctly.
+$1000 Weapon alternatives! The weapons of Night of the Blood Moon will receive alternate forms and abilities which add to the unique playstyle of Night of the Blood Moon.
$2500 More characters! Night of the Blood Moon will feature another play-able character.
Night of the Blood Moon is my opportunity to share my joy with the world. This is my first solo game, and truly where I have poured my heart into for the entirety of 2018. The idea of friends, neighbors, strangers, and you gaining enjoyment through my craft warms my heart to the core. If you decide to back me, thank you from the deepest essence of my heart. You will be allowing me to peruse a career in a way I never imagined possible until now.

Risks and challenges
Night of the Blood Moon is already months into development with my own budget. As time persists my budget is depleting. I am at a point where music quality will begin to dip.
I would love to hire the strongest musician I can for Night of the Blood Moon.
Linux, Mac, and PC, will all be available on Steam at Launch. Platforms such as GoG will be available later in the year.
My hopes are high that I will also be able to release on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Playstation 4 in the near future.
