Alpha Testing Begins Tomorrow, 12/4!
It's been a busy couple of months for War of Conquest since the Kickstarter wrapped up in early October. We've had a small number of dedicated testers playing regularly, and with their help we've fixed a lot of show-stopper bugs and addressed some major gameplay issues. Along the way new features, art and music have been added to the game.
Now that the worst of the problems are out of the way, it's time to invite all of you backers in for alpha testing! This is the stage where we look for the remaining bugs, and fix the balance issues that keep the game from being as fun as it could be. Alpha testing will begin tomorrow (Monday Dec 4th) at around 5pm EST. All accounts and nations from pre-alpha testing will be wiped before then, so we'll be starting with a fresh new game world as alpha begins!
You can download the latest game client here. To log into the game you will need your unique activation code. I sent each backer their code in a Kickstarter message back in October. If you can't find yours, send me a Kickstarter message or e-mail (to email@example.com) and I'll re-send your activation code.
All backers who have reserved a username or nation name can create their accounts using those names as soon as alpha testing starts. If you are unable to use your reserved name because someone else has taken it already, use a temporary name and then let me know and I will change the name to what you reserved. No two backers tried to reserve the same name, so there will be no problem getting you the names you've reserved.
Once alpha testing begins we'll need a place for players to write up the bugs and gameplay issues you find, and for discussion to take place. So far we've been using the Facebook group for this purpose, but it's less than ideal. So we've created a new War of Conquest Forum for this purpose. It will be opened up as soon as alpha testing starts tomorrow, and you can log into it using the same username and password that you use to log into the game.
Thank you all, again, for your generous support -- and I hope to see many of you in game soon!
