PORTRAITS OF ARTISTS - LOS ANGELES
Los Angeles is living a golden age of art comparable with New York of the 70’/80’s, Paris of the 30’s or maybe Florence from the renaissance.
I’ve been in touch with contemporary artists such as: Ed Ruscha, John Baldessari, Jonas Wood, Adam Silverman, Roger Herman, Lari Pittman, Dianna Molzan, Piero Golïa, Billy al Bengston, Larry Bell, Dave Kinsey, Rebecca Morris, Andrew Pasquella, Tim Hawkinson, Ruby Neri, Friedrich Kunath, Channing Hansen and others, those are just few of the great artists I had the oppurtunity to photograph.
This is a tribute to those people who are spending their lives making this world a better place, to reach with their immagination places that we can hardly think about. They make us believe that everything is possible.
The goal is to bring awareness of what the art world is like nowadays by publishing a book with portraits of these incredible art making. We often walk through museums and galleries recognizing their work, but not their faces. The book launch will be held in Los Angeles during an exhibition which will allow the people of the city, the people like yourself, to connect with the artists. Furthermore, we will also promote the local museum of contemporary art, the "MOCA".
For those of you who are familiar with my work will have an idea of what the book will consist of. In "Portraits of Artists " there will be a tribute to those amazing artists and to the city of Los Angeles.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have supported my work and encouraged me to follow my soul and vision. I really want to explore and discover more of those incredible people which make us dream with their work.
We estimated that the book will be printed and ready to distribute by Spring of 2016 in conjunction of the exhibition in Los Angeles.
I am a New York based photographer with a strong fashion background and a great passion for the arts, I found my form of expression in portraiture photography, which made me study and understand the importance of documenting the actions of the human being in relation with nature. In fact, in my background there is an important amount of time spent in Africa where I became more self-confident in documenting reality using a camera. However, it is in Los Angeles and the West Coast that I found the best symbiosis between the modern man and nature. I am currently collaborating with different international artists in order to create this first book of portraits.
MOCA: Founded in 1979, MOCA is the only museum in Los Angeles devoted exclusively to contemporary art. It is committed to the collection, presentation, and interpretation of work produced since 1940 in all media, and to preserving that work for future generations. In a remarkably short time, MOCA has developed one of the nation's most renowned permanent collections. Now numbering over 6,800 works and steadily growing, this invaluable cultural resource provides extensive opportunities for education and enjoyment to thousands of national and international visitors. Today the museum is housed in three unique facilities: MOCA Grand Avenue, The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, and MOCA Pacific Design Center.
MOCA's mission is to be the divining museum of contemporary art. MOCA engages artist and audiences through an ambitious program of exhibitions, collection, education, and publication. MOCA identifies and supports the most significant and challenging art of its time, places it in historical context, and links the range of the visual arts to contemporary culture, MOCA provides leadership by actively fostering and presenting new work, emerging media, and original scholarship.
