KOREresponse is a New York City based dance company gearing up for our first solo show this September. The show, "one in six" will have its premiere at 100 Grand in downtown Manhattan and we need your help to make it happen.
As a young company we're trying to forge our own path for performance, and this project is the first step in what we hope will be a long line of invigorating performance opportunities. We have been working and watching this piece evolve for the past year and are beyond excited to finally share it with all of you! Please enjoy a glimpse into our process of making this piece and thank you for any and all contributions to our goal!
How your contribution helps:
$1400 = dancer salaries
$650 = performance space rental
$500 = rehearsal costs
$300 = artistic collaborators (videographer, costume/set designer, photographer)
$150 = marketing materials
About the piece:
"one in six" is centered around the idea of how one can stand apart in a group of unique individuals. In such a tightly knit pack, dancers must make decisions on the fly, leading to intermittent relationships and shifting alliances. Choreographer Rachel Korenstein has been working with the brilliant dancers Lindsay Hilscher, Chloe Kernaghan, Ashley Matthews, Sophie Slesinger, Hilary Tanabe and Caitlin Yuhas to craft distinct movement derived from their bold personalities. As the piece unravels, their true intentions are revealed through their varied interactions with each other, the space and the audience.
This playfully crafted piece is only enhanced by the smart designs by Claire Smith.
