Exploring the blurred lines of sleep & wakefulness. Questioning the reality of dreams with collaborations in dance & design.

Along the lines of sleeping is a physical exploration of our relationships to time and reality. With choreography by Rachel Korenstein, this piece will feature dancers Chloe Kernaghan, Ashley Matthews, Sophie Slesinger, Hilary Tanabe, and Caitlin Yuhas.

Presented by The Performance Project @ University Settlement

May 3 and 4, 2013
University Settlement, 184 Eldridge Street
New York, NY

Along the lines of sleeping builds the space to open the dialogue between states of sleep and wakefulness - and the fleeting, sometimes equivocal, moments in between. The dancers effortlessly balance femininity and strength in a piece full of poetic abstraction that is grounded in athletic detail.

As a company we have been working on these ideas for over a year and we're excited to finally share our progress with you. Like with our past work, Along the lines of sleeping continues to celebrate each dancers' unique artistry while maintaining the evocative style of performance that KOREresponse is known to deliver.

Along the lines of sleeping brings in the talents of designers Christopher Ford, Dakota Rose, and Claire Smith. Chris and Dakota are a team to be reckoned with, having transformed traditional theaters into immersive landscapes for theater, dance, and everything in between. Having worked on KOREresponse's last performance, Claire brings a refined eye to costuming, creating a complete look that complements each dancers' style.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

In difficult economic times funding for the arts always hangs in the balance, and often times it is an easy cut. However, as a company we are committed to sustaining ourselves and demonstrating the value we place in all our dancers by paying fair and equal salaries. We also rely on affordable rehearsal space throughout the year so we can continue to create work that we can share with you!
