Bowl, Spell and Score ,a wacky bowling word game (Canceled)
A Family bowling word dice game with a wooden character dice that determines the number of pin tiles to flip over to spell words
Bowl, Spell and Score Rules
Object: To roll the bowling dice ball to reveal a letter, number or symbol to determine the amount of letter tiles to flip over in attempt to spell a word to score points.
Contents: 1 wooden character bowling dice ball
100 bowling letter pin tiles
1 score pad
1 rule sheet
ages 8 to adult
2 to 4 bowlers or play up to four teams
Setup: Write all players names on the score pad. Place ten pin tiles face down to match the diagram of the bowling pin setup.
Place all remaining tiles face down in the box top. Tiles may be stack on each other but must be face down.
Play: First player takes the dice ball and must shake in his/her palm
then roll the dice ball on the table. (Place a cloth on the table
if its a glass table.) Do not roll the dice ball at the pins.......
Each player gets one roll of the dice ball unless they roll a 2x or a frown face. (see below).
If a letter appears on the roll then the player must flip
over four tiles and combine them with the letter on the
dice ball to spell a word containing at least three letters
and the word must contain the letter on the dice. If a word is made then record the score under the players frame on the score pad. The values of each letter is shown on the tiles. The value of each letter on the dice ball is worth one point.
If a number appears on the roll then the player must flip over that amount of tiles and try to spell one or more words that contain three letters or more.
If the lucky symbol appears on the roll then the player must
flip over the tiles in the 1, 7, and 10 position and then choose
any letter verbally from the alphabet to try to make a word.
If the three tiles the player turns over already spells a word then the player still can choose a letter to make the word bigger and gain an extra point. The letter verbally chosen
only has one point value.
If the split symbol (•│•) appears on the roll then the player must flip over all the pin tiles except the two tiles in the 7 and 10 position. This is a 7 and 10 split just like in bowling.
If the frown face symbol appears on the roll(this is a gutter ball) and that player must roll again but if another frown face appears then his turn is over and that player gets a 0 for that frame.
If the 2x symbol appears on the roll then that player has a chance to double their points on their next roll. The player must roll the dice ball again and will get double points for any words spell on that turn. *But if the frown face symbol appears then the double point opportunity is cancelled out but the player still gets to roll roll again.
*The letter O on the dice ball should not be mistaken for number 0 .There is no number 0 on the dice ball. Letters: After each player spells a word the letters used in the word are discarded from the game and new letters are taken from the box to fill in the empty spots in the bowling pin tile diagram. When a player is unable to spell a word then the letters are flip back over in its original place. If letter tiles run out return and shuffle the discarded tiles back in the box face down.
Wild Letters: Wild letters can be used as any letter and the point value is on each wild letter.
Words: Legal words must consist of three letters or more of the same language. No names, abbreviations or slang words not found in a dictionary are allow. Each player will get no more than three minutes to spell a word after selecting the letters tiles.
Game over: The game is over after the last player rolls the dice ball in the tenth frame. Players only roll once in all frames except when rolling a 2x or frown face. Winner: The player that has the highest total points wins the game.
