No Land Escapes is an art exhibit by six artists from NY State and Wisconsin whose work speaks to the environmental, health and social issues of continued fossil fuel development, and water issues. The exhibit includes printmakers featuring unusual scale, sculptural print combinations, innovative and traditional techniques, and artists from varied geographic locations. The stories told in the images are informative, heartbreaking and hold this self-evident truth; no landscape involved in fossil fuel development escapes environmental impact.
The power of these artists to capture the beauty of our land and the tragedy of destroyed environments is remarkable.
We are creating our own exhibit in a non-commercial gallery to have our voices heard on this timely and important issue. Your pledges will enable us to frame our work and ship or travel to the Ink Shop, Ithaca, NY, where the exhibit is scheduled for February 1-March 29, 2013. The funds raised here also will cover the gallery fee rental for the 2 months, artists gallery talks, and the exhibition promotional expenses of cards, booklets and advertising.
This exhibit is our action and commitment to the ideals we believe in and your pledges will ensure our artists' voices will be heard!
Each of us has contributed original prints as rewards for your pledges! You can see all of the images available on our No Land Escapes FB page https://www.facebook.com/NoLandEscapes?ref=ts&fref=ts
Risks and challenges
The Ink Shop in Ithaca, NY and we, the printmaking artists, have committed to our exhibit, and we must come up with the rental fee for that time. We feel our visual statement is timely and important and this exhibit will inspire and educate. Your pledges will help our voices be heard, and you can have an original artwork for a prize! These artworks are valued at higher than the pledge amounts, but our commitment to our exhibit is even greater!
The initial 15 days after our launch are of greatest importance to receive pledges, as our promotional designs must be made and committed to! If we do not make our pledges, we will mount the exhibit, but all 6 artists will be responsible for their own related costs, which will make it difficult for them.
The more pledges we have, the greater our out-reach can be to the surrounding area. The importance of setting an example for young artists who may feel overwhelmed at how to make their voices heard, can not be over-emphasized.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
