Alright everybody. Drop everything. Neil Patrick Harris has just backed OdiousLists. Deep breaths. Deep breaths.

Watch the hilarious guys at Beer and Board Games play OdiousLists

Have you ever been somewhere without cell service and actually had to interact with your friends? It's pretty brutal. That's probably why party games are so popular... playing them is way easier than having to come up with random shit to talk about.

But what if your friends are super immature, and prefer something a bit more offensive than the standard G-Rated party games you probably played as a kid?

Introducing OdiousLists: Classic party game. R-Rated content. Perfect for those of us who may have grown up, but haven't really matured.

What is OdiousLists?

In OdiousLists, players have a limited time to come up with answers to outrageous, irreverent, and offensive prompts... with all answers for a given round starting with the same letter of the alphabet. Points are only awarded for unique answers - with extra points for the funniest answers - so you'll have to be creative AND dirty. Which we're sure comes naturally to you given your sordid past.

The prompts have gone through multiple rounds of edits based on feedback from literally hundreds of play-testers. Our goal has been to determine the prompts that best allow players to come up with hilarious answers. To give you an idea of what we mean, here are a few of the prompts from the game:

  • I'd never date someone who is [blank]
  • Things you do when you're blackout drunk
  • Things found on the set of a porno shoot
  • Fox News claims that welfare recipients spend taxpayer money on [blank]
  • Words or phrases that could describe a sexually transmitted infection
  • The BuzzFeed piece "26 Ways to [Blank] Yourself" changed my life

What comes in a set?

OdiousLists comes with six sets of lists, several packets of blank sheets, six pens, a timer, and an alphabet die

Who are we?

We're Bekka and Ken. We've been friends since meeting in a comedy club back in college.

About a year ago, we went on a vacation in a place with no cell service, and were forced to actually interact with each other (gasp!). We started by playing classic board games. A few drinks later, we added some of our own R-Rated content.

We learned two things:

  • dirty board games are more fun
  • we're really immature

We started by asking for input from a large and diverse group of people to help write and edit the content. We play-tested with friends, had our friends play-test with their friends, and finally used the interwebs to find complete strangers to play-test and provide feedback (THANKS SO MUCH TO EVERYBODY WHO HELPED ALONG THE WAY!!!!!).

With contributions from literally hundreds of people, we're confident that this game is ready to go. OdiousLists is creative, competitive, belly-laugh inducing fun, and the first in a series of Odious games with mature content for immature people.

Risks and challenges

We've really busted our asses to lay the groundwork to make sure we can be successful and deliver on our promises. We have a printer lined up and should be ready to hit go the second the Kickstarter gets funded. Our printer has assured us that, assuming we start the printing process by the end of March, the games should be ready to ship to customers by August (I know that seems like a long way out, but we want to be sure we can ship on time, if not early... and apparently dock workers don't really feel like working much these days, so we have to account for that).

Of course, there are a hundred things that could get in the way. But fuck those things. We're better than that.
